But please be kind :) . This is a mix of two Wordpress themes, combined to do what I wanted them to do:

The Blog Shoppe

I know it doesn't validate, I hope to learn that next, though some of the WP widgets just don't validate, anyway. Thanks for input and constructive criticism.

Go to your WP admin panel and change your permalinks. It'll be much better that way because it'll help with SEO, and it'll help with readability. Go with something like /name/ instead of /?page_id=3 :)

Thank you, Rachael! I have done that and my pages look better, though category pages don't...does it have the ability to change those, too? Do I have to leave my .htaccess file writable?

Thanks!

Yep, leave it writable and WP will take care of everything for you. :)

Very sexy theme! Unity-wise, the design is excellent. I'd like to see a mouse hover effect on the menu and perhaps enlarge the link area for the Website Design button. By the way, you might want to capitalize the I in the 'am i popular?' box.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words and suggestions. Good idea on the mouseovers, I have the .psd and can do that fairly easily, I think. I'll look at the link area as well. I actually have all the titles in that sidebox in lowercase, that's why I didn't capitalize it...does it look odd?

Very funky theme, did you produce the graphic of the girl/woman yourself?

Nope, can't take credit for that...she is a vector graphic I purchased :) .

Thanks!

Hmmm...okay, adding mouseovers is NOT so easy...I forgot that they're circles. Anyone have any great ideas on how to do that?

  • Author

Got it :) . I can't change all the colored circle backgrounds, but I think what I did is okay...unless someone can tell me how to do it better.

The mouse hovers are great. I'm not sure about the white on light blue though (for website design) but otherwise it really is a great touch. As for the I, well it's just that it is not grammatically correct to write " i ".

Cheers!

Yeah, that's kind of hard to read, huh? Let me see if the brown works better. Oh, and I know, I'm a total grammar junkie, really...my daddy was a printer, trained me from about 5 to spot typos, LOL...but since everything else is lowercase, well...I'll have to think on that one some more :) .

Thanks again!

I would add a contact form rather than a direct email address, its a softer and less awkward approach if people want to contact you.

Thank you, I'll see if I can figure out how to do that on a WP page...I saw a plugin once, but I think I recall it not working very well. I'll go track it down, thanks!

When I changed the permalinks on my Wordpress, most of the links became broken, but changing back to the (weird) default works. Maybe I should try it again once I update to 2.6.1 (from 2.6).
