August 24, 200818 yr Hey, If someone paid you to make them a site which has CMS etc. How much would you charge if you got a already made template, lets say a joomla template. Then you edited the banner etc, and then you set it all up for them, so when you hand it over, they do not need to do anything to it, except add content? Thanks.
August 24, 200818 yr Tha's a very wide open assumption, depends how much "setting up" there was, consultaion, training and so on. Certainly well on the way to a four figure sum
August 24, 200818 yr It depends on how transparent you want to be with the client. If you're up front and explain that you're using an open source platform with an off the shelf template, then your rates should reflect this. You time is still billable though, so you don't do it for free, but if all you're doing is installing something you've downloaded then charge them for that.
August 24, 200818 yr If you're doing work, you should be paid for it. If you're just changing a couple of things in an existing template, that's obviously not going to involve as much as work as making a layout from scratch, you know?
