  1. Dont think none of the navigation menus should have been done in flash. And why use images for 'read more...' links?
  2. 2 hours?? Did you sketch your ideas out first? If you were doing it for a client and charging by the hour, they'd probably expect half a dozen ideas for the time you've spent on it. The best logos are the ones any could draw!
  3. You've already done the job without giving them a quote? What if they say no!?! Charge them by the hour if your unsure.
  4. Find out what their budget is! If you say £800 and they have a budget of £1300, you've missed out on some £££.
  5. I think its good you've posted visuals rather than an actual link to a site. Doesn't look good half finished sites live. Always work in Photoshop until your happy with the finished product... then start to build!
  6. Too much blue for me! Use the brand colours in a more suttle way. Is it times-roman you've used for the quote? Am sure there's better fonts you could use... and abit more work on your links will help.
  7. www.firemanagement.co.uk Feel free to comment
  8. Sorry to say, but its pretty dull and out-dated. The only good bits are the Facebook and Twitter logos! Design the whole look of your site in Photoshop first, then when your totally happy with it, build it. If you jump straight into HTML without knowing exactly what to do, you'll waste hours playing round with CSS trying to make something look good...
  9. Thanks... we have a great team of designers/developers here!
  10. It simply hides the text 'Dundee Poker League' and just shows the logo: <div class="logo"><h1><a href="#">Dundee Poker League</a></h1></div> You may need to do an ie6/7 fixes for it too. instead off indent do text-size: 9999px; overflow: hidden; I'd recommened you do all your design in Photoshop, and not jump into development until your happy with it. Instead of using borders on headers try icons like little gifs of playing cards. Look at other Poker sites for ideas! Good luck
  11. The Header Tag H1 is more important. Which is I usually use for the name of the site. Instead of using text use your logo. Some examples of stuff i've built: www.4-seasons-air-conditioning.co.uk www.eco-environments.co.uk Everyone has there own way of doing it... there's no rules
  12. I prefered the original... if you stick with the border though I'd float the menu right and sit it along side the guys arm.
  13. Also... try <div class="logo"><h1><a href="#">Dundee Poker League</a></h1></div> at the top and add: .logo {width: ###px; height: ###px; background: url(logo.png) no-repeat left top;} .logo h1 {margin: 0px; text-indent: -9999px;} .logo h1 a{display: block; width: ###px; height: ###px;} then just position the div.logo where you want it and remove it from the background image.
  14. Either add another 27px (the height of your menu) to the top of background image so the strip lines up. Either that or a negative margin on your menu: margin-top: -27px; to pull it up. And take the background colour off the menu, as it wont need it because the strip is there. Hope this helps.
  15. The margin should be margin: 0 auto; not auto 0; Top-Bottom & Left-Right. Make sure you apply a width to the #Wrapper, and that it closes at the bottom.
  16. It is a holding page, while we design the whole site... hence the topic title 'A sneak preview'.
  17. www.chriseubank.com First impressions?
  18. Try a different FONT. Remove the RED BORDER around the conent. Use HEADER TAGS and PARAGRAPH TAGS in your code. Here's one we recently did for some inspiration: www.cdproperties.co.uk Good luck!
  19. Again, thanks for the great feedback guys
  20. Just checked with one of our guys, this happens when they have the add-on 'Add Block' Enabled in Firefox 3.0.10, which conflicts with the script that runs the flash in the background.
  21. What browswer are you using? Do you have any plug-ins that may effect Javascript/JQuery? Thanks
  22. Eco Enviromental Consultants Comments and Feedback appreciated!
  23. I actually agree with some of the comments made, whoever, we fulfilled the client brief by giving them exactly what they wanted. I really like the sliding myself... have to admit I became a bit sea-sick builidng and testing it over and over!
