Hi all, I am currently building an eCommerce site for an art gallery that want to sell their items online. I am building the site using PHP and mySQL but have little experience with databases. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how many databases I would likely need. The online shop will sell their whole image catalog, with variations in size and print material. i.e. canvas or paper, A4-A0. Ideally the site will allow user sign-up and login. Does anyone have any experience doing a site like this and have any indication of how many db's I'll need? Thanks in advance, Jay

Hi all, I appreciate that many of these questions abou commerce have already been answered but I would appreciate any input. My CSS and HTML skills are good, yet I have to build a gallery site for a friend and was wondering the best approach as my PHP and MySQL are limited. As each item is a print, with various sizes etc, there needs to be check boxes or radio buttons for each variation. Does this therefor mean I will need to use somthing like osCommerce that will build the php for me, and I just have to try and alter to give it the desired look? I had considered my hosts check-out system but as each item has variation options that need to be held (I think they would be sessions in php??), the whole site would need to be in php anyway wouldnt it? In an ideal world, there would be a free, fully functional shop that is fully customisable using my front end skills. Does such a thing exist??? Thanks in advance. Jay

Hi all, I am currently building a gallery site, which I ultimately would like to take payments on. Here lies my dilema; Do I look to use something like OS-Commerce, adpating all the code myself, or would it be easier to use, say for example my hosts merchant tools to process payment? Or is there an alternative more efficient or simpler way? Any guidance or advice would be great. Cheers, Jay.

I have two books myself, they just dont have anything specific on forums. If the "everyday apps for dummies" book has a guide on building a forum I might look into getting that aswell. I know what you mean, this isnt gonna b easy, hence the plea for help. ha ha. Jay

Hi Guys, I have to create a Forum in ASP.NET yet have limited knowledge in the area. I have Visual studio and all I need to build it, I just need to know the best way to go about it. Where should I start? Does anyone know of any tutorials or have any advice. I would be very greatful!! N.B. As this is a project I cannot use automated build tools. It has to be my own work. Ideally I would like to produce some statistical results based on the given anwers each individual give. I relise however that this may prove to be difficult and very time consuming, so a simple results page based on their answers would suffice. Jay

Perhaps I could use that as a starting point. The issue I have however, is that I am using a scale. I.e. 1. I strongly agree. 2. I agree. 3. Not sure. 4. I disagree. 5. I stronly disagree. with a set of questions. Any suggestions how I would go approach this!! Jay

Hi all, I am currently embarking on my final year of studying internet technology and as part of my final year project I am taking a psychological research piece and making it electronic. My major hurdle is that I wish to create a questionnaire, which up until now has been paper based, and make it electronic. I am thinking of designing the sight in ASP.NET or PHP. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to go about this, what would be the best approach, asp or php? The questionaire takes the form of a scale, in the sense that there are two statements at either end and the participant has to indicate with which they agree. I have attached an example of the test. The questionnaire would not nessissarily need 2 look like this but hold the same principals in terms of structure. Any advise or info you guys could spare would be brilliant. Thanx guys. Jay.

Hi all. I have designed a website in html, however it is a store, so I have just installed OS Commerce on my server. Do I have to go through and edit each piece of PHP supplied by the OS Commerce in order to make it look like my site??? Being that I'm fairly new to PHP, are there no easier ways? Thanks in advance. I have tried this and moved my usb 2 another computer and simply right clicked and it let me delete the file??
