  1. Reaper, so for £25 you would basically give me what Heart are offering for £2.49 pm? Im new to all this but I assume I still get full control over my account and log in the same way I do with pams site to upload or modify it in any way? if so, sounds pretty good. BTW, the TIA above was just me saying Thanks In Advance, lol. Cheers jotto.
  2. Hey all, Some time ago I made a basic 'hobby' website for my wifes car, www.pamsghia.co.uk and it is hosted by heart internet. I have had no issues with Heart at all and am now looking to host my website, which again is another car site. I will basically be using the same layout as for Pams site but it will have far more pictures and possibly some video content. I just want a no frills, unlimited host that will hopefully cause me no problems. I see heart are offering a package for £2.49 p/m which looks good. Just wondered if you guys knew of any thing similar but cheaper? I know you usually get what you pay for but I saw something for £1.98 p/m with a free domain name....cant remeber where now though! TIA.
  3. OK so I checked the code and changed scrolling from no to yes and it appears to work SO.... Is there any way I can change the colour of the scroll bar and/or its design to better match the site?
  4. OK, so Ive started to learn the basics of HTML but not nearly enough to re-build Pam's site. I will get there but just need to get the CS3 version of it working! Take a look at www.pamsghia.co.uk very basic but functional..much like the car! Anyway, if viewed in less than 1280x1024 the menu gets lost off the bottom of the screen and there is no scroll bar to access the bottom buttons. The data frame to the right looks ok and has a scroll bar for easy navigation so is there any way to get a scroll bar on the menu frame? I basically deleted the original site before backing it up and so am left with the CS3 version. I will search my PC for any backed up files. TIA.
  5. Thanks Rachael will check out that link...more for my poor old brain to take in! Could you check my solution in the other post and let me know if its ok or if its still a terrible way of achieving what I want. Ta.
  6. Think Ive got it sorted... I used <li><a href="pictures.html" target="_parent">Pictures</a> </li> Is this OK?
  7. Soz rachael...bear with me, Im still learning, should the code look like this? <li><a href="url" target="pictures.html">Pictures</a> </li> where pictures.html is the page I want it to open and Pictures is the text shown on the button? Ok, that didnt work so I changed it to <li><a href="pictures.html" target="pictures.html">Pictures</a> </li> but its opening in a new page rather than in the current one.....my head hurts!
  8. Thanks Rachael, will try that! I dont need to use frames, I was trying to work out how I could get the menu to stay in oneplace on the screen whilst all the other data was shown in a pane to the right. Also, it looked easier to just have to code the menu once and then just link to it on each page...there is probably a much easier way of doing it but I am just learning and CS3 is what I had. Thanks for your other post btw, will look at that site you recommended and see if I can get my old brain into gear an teach it something new! Appreciate your time and help! Quick edit, should the code look like this? <li><a href="url" target="pictures.html">Pictures</a> </li> where pictures.html is the page I want it to open and Pictures is the text shown on the button?
  9. Hi all. I have just started using Dreamweaver CS3 as it is on my sons laptop. I have already run into problems with the menu etc and have posted in the Dreamweaver section. Any how, reading through a few posts Ive been looking to learn how to code from scratch. I found some good info on w3schools.com and a few people on here have suggested HTML Dog as a good place to start in other posts. If you were starting out agian, where would you look? Thanks.
  10. Hi all, Just popped in to say hi! Im new to web design from scratch...Ive used online editors before but am having a go with Dreamweaver CS3 although have run in to problems already see http://www.webdesignerforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=10047 for details. Am hoping to learn how to put a personal site together, nothing flashy...just text and pictures with a menu that is fixed in one place on the screen.... Hopefully will learn quite quickly and will try to help others as I learn!
  11. Hi guys, first post and hopefully a real easy one for you experts. Im a complete n00b and am struggling with Dreamweaver CS3 Here is what Im doing and whats going wrong. Ive created a blank page that has a frame 200 pixels wide down the left hand side. I have called this navigation. The right hand frame I have called maindata. The page that brings them together is saved as homepage. For now, all I have in the mainddata frame is a heading and 1 picture. In the navigation frame I have inserted a spry vertical menu with just 4 buttons and no off shoot menus. When previewed in firefox, it looks as I want it to. I then created a 2nd page with the same layout. I kept the navigation pane identical linking to the original. This 2nd page has a heading a 5 pictures. I then set the menu link on one button to point to this 2nd page. Heres the problem. When I preview in firefox, the homepage displays fine. When I click on the link button, nothing appears to happen BUT if I right click on it and select open in new tab, the picture page is displayed correctly! What am I missing here? Im trying to do this from scratch with just CS3, a book and my brain but im struggling! TIA Failing that (although I really would like to learn why its not working ) how would I go about creating a fixed menu on the left hand side with all data and pics to its right? I deally I want the menu to stay in one place whilst the viewer would be able to scroll up and down the main part of the page to the right.
