MJSBLUES reacted to rbrtsmith in Placeholder WebsiteMatt, I agree with what the others have said.
Regarding menu systems I've never been fond of mobile style collapsable navs on larger screens. Set a breakpoint just above where the nav items begin to break and then below that display them in mobile form.
You can check out some of the sites I do for inspiration, most of them use the same base navigation system I created, pf course all are styled differently, but how it's all working underneath remains much the same

MJSBLUES got a reaction from davidverma in Placeholder WebsiteHey, would love to have some criticism on this kind of 'test' website I made!
mattsmith_trident.a3.wrvc.co.uk
Note that the Contact Us page isn't implemented yet.
Some concerns I have already..
1) If you open the menu it doesn't animate in time with the button and lags behind. How would I calculate the time the menu aligns with the side of the button?
2) In IE 11 the plus button at the top left breaks and the social buttons don't stay inside the menu.
Thanks a lot!

Like i've already said these site builders will not come remotely close to what a skilled designer/developer can do. I find it laughable that they say you will get a professional standard, they are a far cry from a 'professional' standard.
You get what you pay for like in any walk of life. I can buy a Mercedes for £1k, but I bet it wouldn't get far beyond my driveway.

Lines 7 and 11 look at the spacing in the string you're outputting..
line 7 you have
console.log("Generator #" + numGen + " is on, adding 62 MW, for a total of" + totalGen + "MW"); it should be
console.log("Generator # " + numGen + " is on, adding 62 MW, for a total of " + totalGen + " MW"); Also on line 14 you're string is off.
CodeSchool is picky about spacing, and your string output has to match the expected exactly.

MJSBLUES got a reaction from NOCK in New to Javascript...Hey,
I'm 15 and pretty new to web design, I've been at a very basic level of coding for the past year or so in HTML and CSS, but I've decided to focus on javascript and start learning it since the past month or so. Hopefully this forum will help me to learn it, and then later on maybe I can help people as well.
I will probably be asking lots of stupid questions on here so sorry! But I have to learn somehow
Matt
