As I don't know too much about all this can I ask if you think this is a good deal or not? A reply I got from a company... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I broke the site down into two parts: 1. Front End (that is design only) so that is just the layout, graphics and coding of all that into HTML. It does not include any PHP/MySQL based programming. 2. The Application (so thats the functionality for the front site that your users see and the CMS which you use to update your website). The Front End (item 1) I indicated was £150 to £300 depending on how far you want to take it. So I take it you want the £150 option for that. The site; in terms of the functionality is around £600 including the CMS. The reason the functionality is £600 is because its all dynamic content (so you can update via the CMS). So all the content, news article entries, gallery entries and so on are stored in a database which is queried - which requires an application framework. Strip away that and you would need to learn HTML to make updates and you would need to create new HTML pages and edit existing ones to add new articles, gallery items and so on into the site. Angelworks is a dynamic website so it has a CMS (you can tell by the way its using application scripts as opposed to pure HTML). If you want to drop the CMS and dynamic site idea; you will push #1 up as we have to create HTML pages for all the content on the website that you want on launch. Then when you want to change or add anything new you will have to learn how to do it yourself or pay someone (us or another party) to update it for you; so your just spending money needlessly long term. If you wanted the £150 design option your total price would be £750 as functionality is £600 on top. We can bring it down by reducing the functionality (so how much is dynamic content); my quote is based on an exact functional replica of Angelworks. I have to ask in this instance what your realistic budget is? If you can name your budget I can evaluate what you can and cannot realistically do with your money. But I will say this; if your budget for the entire site is less than £400 you will struggle to get a developer to produce it; you will get part of the site (i.e. the front end) or a basic HTML site for that (no dynamic content and CMS) but no more. You will find developers who will offer at less; but honestly; if you cannot afford £400 then I would advise you reconsider your position because if you pay peanuts you will get peanuts. Whats your contact telephone number; I'll gladly call to discuss and try and match your budget but if its below £400 I'm not sure how I can help you. But please as a word of warning; if you cannot afford at least £400, don't do it; wait until you can afford it; because you will be disapointed with the result otherwise. If you want something really cheap I can point you in the direction of some open source stuff but you will need some technical know-how to get by down that route. Regards, TrackPrep

When you're on wordpress.org you click 'getting a free wordpress' right? If so it goes directly to wordpress.com. You then click 'sign up', enter your user, password, email, then it says 'gimme a blog' or 'just a user name please'. Which do I want? Thanks,

Just signed up on WordPress. Am I right in thinking, my future customers will have to view my website via - trackprep.wordpress.com if I used that? If so I dont think this will be suitable for my needs. Ask my domain will be on my demo car and on customers cars... I don't mind paying for a layout which I can add my own pages, logo, pictures to... Regards,

Yes, that's right buddy. They have around 5 automtive themes but none are right for me. I want my demo car as part of the design/theme... Also my logo which has been designed... Regards,

Hi all, I currently have a website design template and hosting with 123-Reg. The only problem is that you can not put in your custom theme or logo. So, with out paying some one to design me one. Is there any where that will allow me to put in my own design/theme? www.tackprep.co.uk is what I did have with 123 reg. As you can see with one of their designs of a 'car theme' and just a standard 'TrackPrep' font... Regards,

Design my own website by hand with an pencil & paper? And then get someone to copy that design onto a computer. Will this work? Also, about using images on the net. How do you know if images (i.e. google images) are copy right? I've attached some pictures I may use for my website. Regards, Matthew

Hey up all, I am in need of a little expert help with my amateurish designed logo (by myself). I'm currently in the middle of starting up a new business turning road cars in to track/race cars. The logo needs to stand out and it'll be on my demo car, customers cars, website, receipts, etc, etc... I would be happy to pay any one if they can create me a logo I would be 100% happy with. I have attached my logo I designed. I feel there is something not quite right, what are your opinions? Last but not least, any ideas for slogans?
