Template design websites

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I currently have a website design template and hosting with 123-Reg. The only problem is that you can not put in your custom theme or logo.

So, with out paying some one to design me one. Is there any where that will allow me to put in my own design/theme?

www.tackprep.co.uk is what I did have with 123 reg. As you can see with one of their designs of a 'car theme' and just a standard 'TrackPrep' font...

Regards,

Hey mate, your site doesn't appear to load. (address not found)

What do you mean your host won't allow you to upload a different design? Do you mean you pick a template from their stock and thats all? Or am I totally off here?

Yes, that's right buddy. They have around 5 automtive themes but none are right for me. I want my demo car as part of the design/theme... Also my logo which has been designed...

Regards,

If you want it to be as easy as possible I suggest going with a Word Press host that provides a preinstalled version of word press where you can then just go to many of the word press template sites (we have a section here!) and download the theme of your choice and upload it to your host and install it through the word press config. Very simple task and can save you a lot of head ache. Or you can (if you know web design) make your own theme and upload it.

Is the URL supposed to be trackprep.co.uk?

I agree with EvSoul, use a wordpress theme it is easier to customise.

I'll have a look into WordPress then. Thanks, you two. Much appreciated!

Just signed up on WordPress. Am I right in thinking, my future customers will have to view my website via - trackprep.wordpress.com if I used that?

If so I dont think this will be suitable for my needs. Ask my domain will be on my demo car and on customers cars...

I don't mind paying for a layout which I can add my own pages, logo, pictures to...

Regards,

No - you're probably looking at wordpress.com. Have a look at wordpress.org, you can download the software, then upload it to your server, and you can stick with your existing domain name.

When you're on wordpress.org you click 'getting a free wordpress' right? If so it goes directly to wordpress.com. You then click 'sign up', enter your user, password, email, then it says 'gimme a blog' or 'just a user name please'. Which do I want?

Thanks,

you want to go to wordpress.org and click download wordpress 2.6 no?

Regards,

You could forward your domain to trackprep.wordpress.com so that it transfers to that page.

yea do you own your own domain. what you could do is use that domain or buy another domain name and have it point to the wordpress.com account. do you have access to your domain or is it tied to the host that you template is on? 8)

Yes, I do own www.tarckprep.co.uk

I don't think WordPress will be suitable for me. It seems a touch confusing/time consuming for an amateur such as my self with all the different codes, etc. Is their any where else I can look? As previously mentioned I do not mind paying for a template, etc...

Just out of interest, how much would it cost to create a similar website to this www.angel-works.co.uk but without moving images, etc?

Thanks for all the helpful posts so far, much appreciated!
