Hey Guys, I was just wondering, You know games o nfacebook such as Mafia Wars, Farmville etc. They are obviously very database heavy and dependant but the database for each unique user would surely be huge right? Can someone point me in the right direction on how this is done? Thanks In Advance!

Just a quick question guys, PHP and MYSQL Im developing a Facebook Game that runs off a MYSQL database - However, I need to store quitew alot of information for each user such as how much money they have, all the features tehy have in there complex etc. I wqas thinking that creating another table called 'users' for example would be too heavily dependant and would literalty have hundreds of columns as there is alot of information - do you guys have any ideas of some way of creating like a spererate mini database for each user? Im kind of tryign to figure out how gamres such as Mafia Wars remeber so much information about you? Thanks In Advance

Please help guys, I have experience in database design etc, but not on the 1&1 servers - I am new to it. I am having trouble connecting to the MySQL database i created. I logged into the my administration section and then went to the 'Websites & Applications' section. Next I went into the 'MySQL administration' section. Once here I clicked 'new database'. On thre next screen I entered the DB name, and then on the next page a list of variables were given to me including the ones you need to connect to the DB using MySQL & PHP, these were ....... Database Name, DB User Name, DB Password, Host Name. The problem is I am trying to connect to the database through mySQL-front so that for I know that its possible to connect to the database (without having to test it using PHP code). The problem is that it doesn't even connect to the database using mySQL. I am stumped at what has gone wrong. I read the following at the top of the MySQL administration page: "Your MySQL databases are stored behind a firewall to protect your data. You can only access each one exclusively through your server. Direct access to your MySQL databases using a home PC (external ODBC connection) cannot be established. " Does this mean that you cant connect to the database from outside the control panel/admin section? Is this causing my connection error? Any help would be great as I am really stuck. I just get the following error message - Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) Anyone help? Thanks

Hey Guys, I have a column in my database called keywords - how would be the best way to implement this for a search in PHP. Is it a specifc Mysql query? please advise. At the moment i have - select * from aircon_products where keywords LIKE '%$search_word%' search word is obviously the form. But the problem is it doesnt really work. I want it to return the correct information when it checks all the other collums. For example if the user searchs - polo, then it looks across that row and returns volkswagon, petrol, reg number etc. Thanks in advance

Hey guys, this has been driving me mad all day. Ive tried so many diffrent combinations, watched the server have a processing fit. Everything. I Have two tables like this products | ID | Product | Description | pricing | ID | Price | I have a loop that calls all the products in the database from a query - for example select * from products where product is 'tshirt'. however i need to list the price and thisd is my problem. How do i get the price from pricing to match up with id (that is the same for both tables) in the products table with the pricing in the pricing table? please help guys. thanks in advance

Thats the example i used origionnaly, however the DIV being used will contain over div's and therefor it wont work. Ive tried but the div inside the div does not go to the center and just to its orgional place. below is the code for the div inside the div. Thanks in advance
