  1. Hello, I am researching about computers and laptops. I do web design and also just started doing video effects using After Effects. I personally have a MBA as my everyday PC. And a windows based computer that is more powerful for serious work. Anyway I was thinking to ask this question somewhere like here to see what kind of system other web designers prefer to work with. Mac or windows? or Laptop or desktop? Any particular spec or component? fore example some use double screen. What screen size do you prefer as a website designer ?! And also if you do video editing please do post your experience and the system you prefer to use, because I have just started doing video editing and might buy a new system for it. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hey all, I am a website designer and would like try designing iPhone applications too. In fact I want to design a mobile version of a website but as a App. So it will have pages for playing music, youtube videos, bio, photos and maybe a contact page. But I have no idea how to start it. Will my CSS3 skill help me in this way? Generally if you know any good tutorial or other sources that can help me design an application such what i described, let me know please. Thanks
  3. Hi, I'm a website designer and mostly work for musicians and artists. So my designs get known and shared by the artist's fans. But how can I introduce my work to web design magazines and websites, for reviewing or even computations. I know there are many events like choosing the best website of the month and etc, so how have I get involve? Also there are many sites that put designs for inspiration, how do they find those websites? I've always had these sort of questions and wanted to know how can I introduce my work to wider range of users. It would be great if you share your experience or any idea. Thanks
  4. Hi, A few months ago I installed a file that supposed to work as a second control panel. It was a PHP shell anyway I just wanted to test it and removed it after a few hours. But since that time my website has been hacked 5 times. They dont change front page or anything just edit the index file and redirect it to another random website. Also once I found a picture of the hackers team in the root folder. My host provider has been scanned my files many times and they said there isn't and suspicious file in my files but why it keep happening. Is there any way I get read of it? Just shared my problem here maybe someone has experience or know the solution.
  5. Thanks everyone for your posts. My budget is around £750, so I think laptop is more suitable for this budget. Building a desktop computer would cost £1100 for having an i7 processor, 16GB RAM and 2GB Graphic Card on a good motherboard. However, I've just checked Sony and Asus websites, and they have some good models that might not be as powerful as the top desktop PC but still suitable for web/graphic design. Here is the spec: Sony Fit SVF15A1C5E Intel® CoreTM i5-3337U, 1.8GHz 39.5cm LED 1920 x 1080 +webcam NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 735M 2 GB 1 TB Serial ATA (5400 rpm) 8 GB 1600 MT/s DDR3L-SDRAM (12 GB is also available) Blu-ray Disc writer Price £780 So what do you think about this laptop? Is it good enough?
  6. Thanks for your post, I already got a MacBook Air 13" for my daily usage. So I'm looking for something more powerful. MacBook Pro is really good but its costs are really high. :/
  7. Hi, I want to buy a new computer. Do not know a laptop or desktop yet but I'll use it for website and graphic design also maybe a little of video editing. I want to know what spec is the best. I know for example 16GB RAM is really good, but maybe for web/graphic design, that is too many. So any suggestion? Any idea? Thanks
  8. I do agree with you, but as I said people might not be the same as before. Of course before the website goes live, they promise and everything is like they are happy with you, but once the website is live and up. They can easily ignore what they supposed to do and just say OK now we want to remove your logo. As simple as that. I do not care to update website after it is up. all I care is that do not want the client remove the logo from the template. However I am still not sure if that's my right or not. Otherwise I would thinking to create a tool to mess up the index file once logo is touched.
  9. Thank you for your reply. But I dont agree with the top sentence because it is true that we get paid for designing something, but still the client is not allowed to remove the designer's name and write his/her name instead. Of course they can even remove the work and but cannot pretend that they design it by their self. That's the way I'm thinking about it, but it might be wrong, as of course I am not that experienced.
  10. Well I have a contract but in the contract I did not state about the logo and ownership clearly. But before we start the project they said that they need me to update the website so like many other websites that I manage, no one can access them except me so I know the logo will not be removed. This particular project made me worry because they mentioned that they will update website. I was thinking if there is a compiler or something that required me to manage the files. Or even a piece of code that if the copyright sentence changes, then it mess the index file or something like that. These ideas are all I was thinking and am not sure how much they can be realistic. But as a designer we should have a tool to protect our products.
  11. Hello, I am a website designer and normally design websites for artists like singers. In one of my projects, I finished designing the website and the owners of the website want to update the it by their own and actually the do not need me. I am a bit worry if they remove my logo under the website. I spent hours and hours to design it, now if someone edits the website, he could easily remove my logo and the design sign from the website and it will be a famous site, so many people likes to see their own name there. Is there any way to register my work, or do something that prevent others to remove my logo from the site? Basically what does professional designers do? How do they protect their work?
