Before make a final decision what shopping cart to use i'd recommend to spend 2-3 hours and read reviews about existing shopping cart solution. If you don't have much time my suggestions would be to switch to another platform: OpenCart. This e-commerce solution will cover all your needs.

Hi, WP Ecommerce extension is not a perfect shopping cart solution. That is why i'd recommend to understand firtly your needs. If you'd like to run a regular website, then WP would be ok. But if you are going to sell goods online you will need an online shop solution. My suggestions here would be: OpenCart. It allows for many things you described above. Sure, you also can take Magento but for you as newbie it will be very difficult to manage the store.

Any company who provides web design services will be the competitor. Not sure, if your boss was right. I'd personally would ignore this message and make the web designer career.

Normally we host clients website at 1and1. When buying the host we inform the client that he will need to pay extra costs for the hosting services.

Normally we do some work for free. It can be a small job or a job for 10 hours. Usually the clients are then very happy :-)

For me personally it makes no difference if i work from home or from the office. It's important to deliver the job in time and make the client happy with the work.
