To be a bit more precise you can add in:
 

<?php if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') ) register_sidebar(array( 'before_widget' => '', 'after_widget' => '', 'before_title' => '', 'after_title' => '', )); ?>
into your functions.php file (if you don't have one just make it, put that in it and save it as functions.php)
 
And add in:

into sidebar.php, but keep the sidebar widgets you'd like hardcoded into the theme. If no custom widgets are added, the hardcoded ones are displayed.

So as the description says, come up with a brand and I'll make a logo.
 
Basically, I'm bored and awaiting to go back to university so in my spare time I thought I'd get some more experience in logo design because its fun to do and would help my portfolio etc I guess. So if you would come up with the following information that would be great. Other people could also do this too and could post what we have on here.
 
Ok so heres what we need (post if I've left anything out):
 
.Name of the company (Make something original guys )
.What the company is, what is does, etc etc etc
.Target audience that the company is aiming at
.Any slogans
.Specific Colour scheme
.Any extra detail I may have missed

Have it so that they can't even see the looking to hire part until after x amount of posts, after which a mod will be notified, where they will then check out the account and if they think it's legit, the member is allowed to access all of the forum?

Copy people! Be shameless. Steal all the interesting little ideas that you come across on others' websites. When you go to a website, criticize it. Look at what the designer has done and where you think they could have done better. Go with the trends.
 
Now, these are (mostly) not things an experienced designer should be doing, but for someone who is learning to become a designer, these things are extremely important. You have to copy to learn. An illustrator doesn't start their life drawing their own original characters, they draw the little mermaid or other things they have seen before. They study others' styles, they don't start with their own.

As I said the MSI GT 680 is well worth a look with some great reviews all round. The only fault I could mention is I'd like longer battery life, but with a top end laptop like this, battery life isn't going to be great. It comes highly recommended on several sites including:

I highly recommend you read a book called Principles of Beautiful Web Design, this teaches you the main fundamentals of good design for the web, including layout/composition, colour schemes and typography.

If you're stuck with creative block instead of sitting in front of a blank canvas in Photoshop try splitting the design process up into several stages. Start with UX and Site-maps to nail your specific needs, then go to wire frames to get a basic layout and then perhaps create some mood boards and get a feel for what you want the site to look like. If you find you're getting stuck on colour leave it out, design in grey scale and look at colour afterwards, via colour palettes maybe.
 
You can be very creative with simplicity and simplicity can be beautiful.

Alright here's something that'll make it look the way you want it to using the sidebar:
Step 1: Make a new menu and add a page (for a post in your menu section go "Screen Options" at the top and check "Posts" and use that instead of "Pages").
Step 2: Add that menu to the sidebar using the "Custom Menu" widget.
Step 3: Add another widget called "Text". You'll find it in the list. And add in the following code

Repeat to add more than one. This might be a bit tricky for a novice client but that's the best I can do right now. I'll see if I can tweak it to be more user-friendly

I've never created one either
I'll look into it and see if there are any already made.
In the mean time maybe someone else will have the answer!

Since for me this is mostly a hobby and not a career, I don't have the resources to buy applications dedicated to the areas of website development.. So for me, Notepad++ is and probably always will be my holy grail.

For me, it seems like a boring task getting the base HTML out of the way so I can start playing with the CSS and jQuery... Not that it takes hours and hours, but it definitely could be streamlined in a few ways.
 
Recently I found a plugin for Notepad++ (and Coda, and DreamWeaver, and TextMate, etc etc) that allows a pretty sweet looking method for HTML coding. The first 30 seconds of the video was enough to sell me on this, I suggest you have a look as well.. If it's not for you, then it's only a few minute of your life lost.

For those of you who want TextMate style "Tab Triggers" in Notepad++ to navigate between the areas of the code you just entered... I haven't really tested this yet, I only found it just now, but it looks like the QuickText plugin does that quite well.
 
And finally, instead of downloading files via FTP, editing, saving and then uploading again to see the changes on a live website.. FTP Synchronise does a beautiful job of handling the FTP automatically while you focus on the code itself.
 
 
So, there you have it.. A code editor with customisable syntax highlighting, automatic FTP synchronisation, improved code navigation and abbreviation-based code completion. All rolled into one completely free app. Use it, don't use it, it's your choice.. I get the idea a few people will find this pretty useful though.
