Would you agree with the thought that Google doesn't differentiate the banner ads from other kinds of links? I think for this reason, I will go with banner advertisement rather than adwords.

I am opening new site related to stock photography. The only payment gateway I'm using is PayPal. I intend to focus pretty much to selling here in Japan. The problem is that many Japanese users have never heard of such thing as Paypal. One customer went to largest Japanese bank Mizuho and asked them "what is Paypal" the bank's employee shook her head and said she has never heard of such thing. I made a test. I asked my wife to sign up to my shop and buy a photo with her credit card. First, she had to figure out to use the site, and register into the site, receive confirmation email, click the activation link and login to the site. Then she added a photo to the shopping cart, and thought the process was over, just to learn that she has to register to Paypal. After fifteen minutes, she was finally ready to BUY the picture. I wish there was easy way for us newcomers to reduce these steps and the threshold of becoming a buyer. Would you have any ideas how to help the situation? I think to add Japanese version of Paypal explanation to the site would be helpful, but then I think Paypal doesn't like if I just copy the text and paste their content. So I'm hiring a translator to translate the thing to Japanese and explain with his own words what Paypal is, that should be OK.. If you have any insight on these matters, I'd be glad to know.

Kiitos! Wow! Kokkola!! I am from Etelä-Pohjanmaa in Finland. Japan.. yeah I used to live my 20's on airplane between Finland and Japan.. I love the visual culture of this country and the artists here. After I got married (my wife is Japanese) I finally moved here for good. I have to say I've been enjoying most of my time here.

If I buy some banner space and put graphical banner ad in the site, does that increase my pagerank if the site has fairly good PR? I remember reading from somewhere that simple text links are better in this regard than graphics. But that might be outdated..

I recently bought Pixelmator and I totally love it. Of course it can't do somethings what PS can , but it's pretty solid piece of software. If you are on Mac, I recommend it warmly. I'm also Lightwave 9.6, and zBrush user.

I like it, it's pretty unique. But I'd go easier with the green.
