  1. I have tried this but it confuses me as the map is a script so I wouldn't be too sure where to place the element in the document. Would the css be added as an attribute or an element?
  2. Welcome Kevin. Enjoy WDF!
  3. I'm still learning HTML and CSS but I have improved a lot in the past couple of days. Still struggling with this though I have tried lots of different ways and none of them have worked. See the screenshot below. Any idea how I could add a margin to the left of the map so that it is aligned with the text above? I'm pretty certain it is possible. Alex.
  4. Okay well I use safari on my mac anyway and it doesn't cause any problems so i'm guessing it's all I need.
  5. Absoluite genius I love you haha. It worked perfectly thank you so much. Man I need to master this...
  6. Thank you I will let you know if it works

This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design. 2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin. 3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document. 4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source. */ .sidebar1 { float: left; width: 180px; background: #99ddff; padding-bottom: 10px; } .content { padding: 10px 0; width: 780px; float: left; } /* ~~ This grouped selector gives the lists in the .content area space ~~ */ .content ul, .content ol { padding: 0 15px 15px 40px; /* this padding mirrors the right padding in the headings and paragraph rule above. 8. Can anyone possibly tell me why my container has sort of blended in with my background image? It is fine when you preview it in the browser as shown in the attachments but it's annoying as it's easier for me when I can see what changes are being made.
  9. +1 reputation for you! thank you haha
  10. oh I didn't see the reply i'll give this a go and see how it comes out thank you!
  11. Very impressive. Welcome and enjoy.
  12. All about firefox. I've never even used Opera in my life.

I am also new to jQuery and would like to know how to put my basic knowledge into practice. Anyone? Just bumped the thread.
  14. I just bought some dummies guides haha I hope they're useful
  15. Okay yeah I will give it a go. I keep drifting in and out of different ideas at the moment so I'm trying everything at once until I manage to find something that works haha. Thanks a lot.
  16. Thank you Lewi I'll see what I can find.
  17. As I am only a beginner I had trouble moving my images up the page on dreamweaver. But I am definitely interested in using a slideshow or some sort of image scroller.
  18. After a recent failed attempt of ading my images on my page and not being able to align them properly I have decided to try and use a slideshow or something similar just so that my images look neat and tidy across my site. Any ideas people?
  19. oh and ignore the fact that you can't see the bottom picture i can fix that easily
  20. sorry for the wait. basically where it is all stacked up i would like to move the second picture to the right.
  21. When I insert pictures into my CSS they only seem to stack on top of one another leaving a huge gap on the right hand side of my container. How would I be able to move them around?
  22. bare in mind I am only 16, I make everyone feel old
  23. Don't you all feel lucky now after looking at this picture? I'm so glad there's such a thing known as progression. F**k working on Netscape or Nexus 0.1 LOL http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/Web_development_timeline.png/723px-Web_development_timeline.png
  24. How much would it cost to buy netbeans? Is it worth the money?
