I am 27 been designing and developing websites seriously for about 2 years now. I know HTML and CSS, for a while I got hooked on javascript.

The joomla site needs a little attention to match the original I would look at the modules you have on the right hand side and change the colour and the outline of them to be more in keeping with the "rounded theme" you have going..

If you are trying to create a template from scratch then why not download a template and take tip bits from that so you know you are on the right track.

As you are using joomla there are a number of extensions you can use to spice it up, I may have a few extensions you might be interested in.

I don't want to sound rude but it was very plain nothing grabbed my attention, add some flash or jQuery in there to get a little bit of animation and to grab people's attention.

You would need to post this on the virtuemart forum you are more likely to get a better response that way.

I second this you can't go wrong with JCE is use it on all my sites

The joomla templates that I looked at were clean. You have covered alot of bases with these templates catering for different tastes and styles good job.

I did create the banner yes but I just left it simple to get straight to the point.

You might want to have your CSS in a seperate file stops people stealing your styles.
