I can access my website folder within the holding place (public_html) so i go to my homepage and double click on it there and i get a new browser window pop up with just an ugly ass looking website lol I think there might be a problem with how my html is linkin up with my flash and css. But i dont see what it is at the mo because everything was linking up fine, back to the drawingboard. Do you think that if i am creating my websites within dreamweaver its worth trying to pass everything on to the host via dreamweaver or can this get confusing?

Excellent replys guys well worth a read. To be honest i am not after major hits to my website in a commercial way its just simple knowledge of how it works at the moment. So am i right in saying with following your advice ooyes i could actualy get on first page results in search engines by taking carefull time in certain tags and content?

Forgive me for this post, but i have been adamant as a noob at webdesign to see my website in the making viewable online so i bought a domain name last night, and subscribed to some free hosting with the above company. Anyway after getting my files loaded up in smart ftp i can access the root and view my files but seems like the non of my css or flash is is linking up to the homepage in preview. As i'm waiting for the domain to clear would this have anything to do with it? Also Heart Internet say So does this mean that my website is accessible with the ftp part at the begining if thats so its not working for me. Why is that i can view my pages fine and dandy in my own browser but after uploading the files they arnt linking up with each other. I am extremely new to hosting even if it is in black and white somewhere in there help database but hopefuly someone can give the personal touch and explain a little run down on it.

I no its pretty much impossible to answer this indepth but just a very breif answer to what the following programming languages are used for. What is mostly used and what mostly for. Programming is not my thing at tall and i dont think it will for a while because i have only been studying html and css for a few months but i'm curious about all these types languages and also a future hosting firm says there free with my pakage but there probebly all free anyway. I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick run down on, once you have your website hosted with a provider do you automaticaly have SEO just because its there to be seen. Or is there a lot more to do to actualy find your website in the big search engines. Does keywords like the website name or top html come in to action at all? or do you have to pay each search engine to host you address?

I have followed all the instructions given in that and can not get any result, must i be doing something wrong, probebly only thing i can think of is that i just use some text to look at the wrapper. I'm becoming a little furstrated because there is a very small amount of code yet i can not get a result i wish to see. Will this wrapper give me an effect of two sides of white space with a border just like this page i'm currently typeing in?

Hey guys many thanks for your replies there is some good info for me to look in to. I have read in to wireframing a little what are the drawbacks of using this method/software? It seems that I could use this method for some of the problems that scares me regarding layout, am i right in saying that using wireframes i can create my layout, actually position certain elements and use the co-ordinates from that within my code for precise positioning, if that’s so it would give me more confidence in layout because co-ordinates and positioning via relative, absolute, pixels etc in code blows my mind. As a learner of webdesign i find myself thinking im in over my head at the endless amounts of information/software/tutorials/code etc available. I am a home learner and have only the tools available on the internet, books, people etc and what i want to achieve is basic but professional looking pages mostly for information based websites, other forms will follow. I am not so bad with html and css so I have some grounding its just putting this in to practice and the only thing stopping me from creating what I have learnt so far is layout and wrappers, the above code you quoted for a wrapper is there any chance you could just include some basic css so it functions and I can copy the code and preview it as a webpage and also would there be a visual border on each side? that would be great I no I must sound dumb but a simple example like that could help me a lot.

Hey guys, wondering if it would be possible to get a simplified way of laying out elements. I have been reading basic html and css and know that setting margins, z-index, absolute, and relative positioning can get a required layout, but i seem to struggle on beginning any sort of layout for myself. For example how can i get the effect of everything centralised with white space on either side? I am only a beginner learning so if i don’t make sense in some way i will try to reiterate. It would also be nice if someone could maybe try and explain what there beginning stages of creating a website would be bearing in mind all sites are different how do you find yourself creating the layout you want. I understand this maybe asking to much but if you catch my drift sort of speak hopefully I can get some guidance in the right path.

Hey Rob, i bought the book the same day you suggested it, i have it delivered today, i have not looked over it properly but i will do, i have basic knowledge of html but css i dont quite get so i wil be hoping this book helps. i have a friend that mentioned the web site you quoted and i am actually using it atm to learn. thanks for your reply mate.

While im on the subject of photoshop, how would if you created this, http://www.webdesign.org/web/photoshop/web...ader.13023.html incorporate the buttons in to web designing programmes to become active if they are flat on the image?

Hi guys, this is probably a complete beginners question, but i was wondering after trying if there is a way of say for example, after using the magic wond in photoshop finding i have one complete layer shape can i use that shape only to save instead of when i save any image it automaticaly puts it into a square when saving. Hope i have been specific enough for you to understand me lol. Great if someone can help.

Hello everyone im new to the forum. Ive come here to see if anyone could give me a little bit of guidance, iam currently out of work for around a year or so, so iam keen to learn something in that time. I have got hold of some good software, training and books to start studying the titled programme, currently iam trying to find my feet with class room in a book from adobe and reading over Dreamweaver CS3 Bible before i go to sleep. I am then in a week or so going to start a training programme called total training for dreamweaver CS3 by jannine warner. There are many learning curves i need to go through and it will be a slow progress thing specialy as i am learning myself and not going through a training provider but going of this info would anyone be able to comment on any different steps i should take or any advise at tall i could take on board.
