Why is that? Could you be more specific on the menu? Also, the other designer said everything was too squashed up whilst you are saying there is too much white space. Which one is it?

Ok. Can't add it only to the contact page, the client wants it on every page.

Thanks this is some useful feedback. I will look into the homepage + footer lists re. simplifying. Where do you prefer to put the social/mail icons? Are they just too large?

P.s. To everyone else: The client told me not to touch the logo other than resizing it, so I'm afraid I can't do anything about it. It wasn't designed by me and the client likes it so don't think I'm not listening if the logo doesn't change, I actually don't have permission to alter it, I just have to do my best with it. At the end of the day, it's the client's choice, and I would be a very bad service provider if I argued with the client when their mind is made up, the word counter-productive comes to mind (as well as "fired"). I know that I will probably get shot down in flames for saying this, but sometimes stability comes first. They don't want to change, and I respect that, I respect their wishes, and the world keeps turning. I will mention it again delicately but at the end of the day - they choose, and they have the right to.

Ok I think that's enough now. EpicWebs – don’t worry about taking over the thread, I appreciate your posts. So it seems that Fuzzy Logic is intent on insulting everyone - and objective reached - now you can go home happy. You seem to have issues and I don’t know what they are, perhaps you’re frustrated by problems in your life and you chose to take that frustration out on this thread, I think there are better ways to deal with anger than to unleash it on anyone and everyone who crosses your path on this forum. I know you are going to say that I’m wrong and that you are talking about timeless design principles, instead of just unleashing your stress in a harmful way, but come on, be honest. I can already imagine what your reply to this will be, but I think you’re probably suffering because to be so aggressive so quickly to so many people is not normal. Thanks everyone else for your feedback and posts, I've learnt a lot and I am as determined as ever to keep improving (despite the seething hatred from some, but I have very thick skin so that's fine). You know what they say – when there is no wood, the fire goes out, so I’m not going to reply to any more of your posts FL. I wish you all the best, I really do, and I hope you also continue to make progress, as we all need to do. A wise proverb says: “A wise person listens and takes in more instruction; A man of understanding acquires skillful direction” Think about it. Over and out.

Is it necessary to have validated css code?
I was wondering what the general consensus was on css code, I agree that validating HTML the correct tools (eg. http://validator.w3.org/) is pretty essential, but I was wondering if it is essential to do the same with css? Are the constraints too narrow or is it good to use a tool (eg. https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/) to validate css? For example, if it comes up with the error - Property webkit-box-shadow doesn't exist, should I delete the code? Over to you..

I like the site you sent, it's really nice - I have no idea what's written without using a translation tool but I like it! I see what you mean, I have changed the header and main content to 1200px max-width. I am working on a reduced-width menu but I've been getting a bit tied up on having all the menu info on the mobile menu as well - the menu is pretty complex so I've decided to simplify it and use extra pages like on this site: ikea.fr (granted - not in the same way, but the design idea)

Thanks very much for your feedback. Any chance you could send me a screenshot of what you're seeing please? The website has a max-width set on it but it's possible that it might be too wide or perhaps it doesn't work across all browsers.

Any tips for making a div the full height of a screen please?
Thanks very much for your your advice, much appreciated, I've tried out the html and body 100% idea and it's worked a treat. Thanks very much for the sticky footer idea as well, I will log it away for future use. Thanks!

Any tips for making a div the full height of a screen please?
Hi I've been web developing for a while but have never seemed to be able to work this out.. Does anyone know how to get a div to be the full height of the users screen as a default. I've tried setting the body to height:100% and then setting the div height to 100% but it's not happy. I also thought of adding a min-height but that would mean unnecessary scroll on certain screens. Any help much appreciated (I'm sure I must have missed something really simple!) 35173

My personal website
Perhaps try using a 3d-looking graphic for the navigation pane instead of a flat colour and instead of making the text change colour on hover, try making the background of the text change colour. It looks like you've used bold on your navigation text - I try to stay away from bold as it sometimes can just look old fashioned and grainy round the edges. Hope that's helpful 35173

Design Review
I agree re. grunge effect. But other than than I like it, good use of the blue and the green ticks work well.

Please rate my 1st 3 sites on design
Number 3 due to the fact that there is less colour which makes it look more modern

Please could you let me know what you think of my site
Hi My site is www.ittrainingsolutions.co.uk and I was wondering if you would mind having a look at it to see if you spot any obvious flaws or things I could change please? Or just let me know what you think. All comments appreciated. Many thanks in advance for any advice 35173
