Thanks for the reply Andy, You know i think you're right! It all seems a lot of work just for the sake of putting a link in an email! I've been researching this all day and it seems that even if it's done spot on it's still hit and miss! I personally have never had to use one of these things and would never trust it getting to the recipient as i want it to. Definitely need to think more on this as i've not got the time to spend all day working on a jumped-up email! Thanks mate Nathan

Hi people i wonder if you can help me out on a little problem. I've been asked by a promoter to supply them with some media they can use to promote our services to musicians in the uk. One of the requests was an e-flyer that they can use to send prospective clients via email. I've made a HTML flyer with all the css embedded on the page. The rollover is hosted on a server and linked from the document etc. It all seems to be working fine. My question is, how do i send this in an email so it displays correctly and what kind of instructions should i give the promoter so that they embed it in their emails properly. Until now i've been lucky enough not to have to deal with e-marketing so i have no idea about how to do this kind of thing. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks Rapid, like you i'm not a massive fan of flash, and i'm no hardcore actionscriptor either! I think it's a really good tool for achieving certain things and there is some flash sites out there that are completely genius! But you've got to be good and i'm not the best by any standards! As Socreative rightly pointed out! On this occasion i think it's worked alot better than just having the movie in a little box embedded on HTML. I won't be making a habit of it though! I think you mistook my tone a little, i wasn't being snappy!! Basically the reason i did it in flash was to have the video as a backdrop with some layers over the top. The guy's loved the idea so we went with it. The tour dates overlapping is one of the points the guys brought up so ive got to change that as well as make the logo more translucent. They also need an image link to the urban music awards site as they've been nominated. Thanks for the feedback and for god sake don't think i can't take negative feedback! That's the reason i post on this site to get honest opinions of professional developers!

Hi everyone! I've just published a holding page for a website i'm building for September. The clients are UK hip hop group Foreign Beggars. There's a few changes i'm going to make over the next few days but i'd like some feedback on the initial design. As i said, this is just a holding page for the public to use while the new one is being created. They already have their own website but it isn't very functional and very difficult to update as it's full flash. The page itself is flash but dont worry the full website won't be! I understand what you're saying but i'd prefer the clients not to know that i'm using an open source CMS (unless of course they ask for it) I really don't know a lot about WP but surely the client would be well aware that it was WP they're using and not something i did myself?? Would the back-end admin panel be full of WP logos ect?

Hi everyone. I've asked a similar question before regarding CMS and was steered into the direction of Wordpress and Drupai ect. However the situation has changed and i need some advice from you guys. As i mentioned in my previous question, i design in pure xhtml and css and i have no experience whatsoever in building content management systems. This wasn't a problem a couple of years ago but now more and more prospective clients are asking for it and i'm turning away jobs as i'm not in a position yet to employ a back end coder. It was suggested that i look into Wordpress ect which at the time looked like a good idea but what i really need is the means to create my own custom(ish) CMS. So my question is this...Is there any software out there that would allow me incorporate CMS into a CSS based website without any php/asp/mysql knowledge?? The solution would need to added into my existing design and work on my own hosting and domain (no third party hosting ect) and must give the client plenty of flexibility when uploading text, images ect. I used a thugged out own-build windows pc on a 32" lcd tv for ages and got on ok. There was a lot of crashes and silly viruses but it did ok. Then it completely gave up the ghost and i thought sod it and bought a 24" imac. BEST THING I EVER DID! Mac osx is a far more elegant system than XP (or god forbid VISTA) and i have never had a single crash or virus since. Its easy to get used to operating system. The screen is beautiful with deep colours. I loved it so much that when it was time to replace my laptop i bought the new Macbook Pro which (even though on paper it has less spec) blows my brothers top-end dell out of the water. It handles more applications without slowing down, the screen is absolutely stunning (more colour gamut than most desktops and it never makes a sound unless you put a disc into the drive. And it's pretty as hell!

They certainly look better davep, thanks for spending the time to play with them. Despite slagging off gradients in my last two posts, i think the first one you did is really good, there's a gradient but it's not in your face like the my first concept. I do like concept 1 as a shape, it's a random shape (not based on the company or their products) but a lot of good logos out there are random shapes. Thanks for your time mate you've given me a lot to think about

Thanks for the feedback Alzer, i agree completely with your views on gradients. I love them in artwork and there's a lot you can do with them (if you're good that is) but like you i'm not a fan when it comes to logos. And like damian pointed out, they look p*** poor when you need to get certain things printed. I'll take some of your comments to my client and see if i can't steer them away from the idea. After reading the 80's comment i can't help thinking of robocop whenever i look at concept 1! ****!

You're right Damien, thankfully (apart from leaflets, cups, and cards ect) they'll only be using the logo for web. I can't ever see them printing t-shirts but i'm definitely going to try and sway them on the flatter images. I've still got a few more concepts to draw up for them so i'll post them on this thread when they're done and you guy's can see what you think. Cheers for the time guys!

Thanks for the feedback guy's it's very helpul, i must admit i prefer the cleaner flatter ones but the client has a hard on for gradients (which i'm never too sure about in logo design).
