  1. Hmm, i tried xampp and didnt really like it, prefer to stick with wamp (its what i know ) Got it workign in the end though. Completely uninstalled and removed all wamp files and re-installed. came up with the same problem with the mysqli file. Tried using SQL Buddy rather than PHPMYADMIN and it worked fine! Wamp is incredibly temperamental.
  2. I can use wamp fine, when i can get it working. Tis will be the 4th install ive done of it (on different computers) and the 2nd time ive faced problems. Any ideas on the mysqli issue? Ive gone into the php.ini file and not been able to find the extension=mysql line but it appears to be enabled in the extensions sub-menu. Help...
  3. Ok, so now im getting: Cannot load mysqli extension. Please check your PHP configuration. The mysqli extension is currently enabled in the php version im running. Any ideas?
  4. I always thought xamp was for macs only? Or am i wrong? I fiddled about with options and changed to another version of apache and php and it has started working, with the exception of mysql/phpmyadmin. I am getting the error of: 2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured) Wamp is so temperamental!!!

Im thinking that there is a conflist somewhere with ports or something (last time it was a conflict with skype), but i dont have skype or really many programs installed so cant understand it.
  7. I recently re-installed my laptop to speed things up Im running: Windows 7 IE 9 AVG (latest Version) Wamp 2.1 (Well, trying to run...) Every time I install wamp I have problems and I am getting fed up if it, all I want to do is run a few PHP scripts... I am basically getting "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and the Wamp icon is red
  8. Hi All, Im looking for a script that ive used in the past (so i know it exists) but cant remeber what it was called. It was javascript, and made a horizontal bar appear at the very very top of the page, with a tap that expanded the bar when clicked? Anyone heard of it or know how to find it? Any Help Would Be Appreciated
  9. Did a little googling and came up with a result: I'm using skype, which uses port 80 on an alternative!
  10. Hi All, Just tried to boot wampserver and it shows a 404 message every time i attempt to load. The server says its running fine (green indicator). Have uninstalled then re-installed again and checked the host file but cant work out whats wrong. Can anyone help? Thanks In Advance
  11. Hi all, I'm currently doing a web based project which involves using YouTube videos from popular TV shows and looking into the possible copyright issues before it goes online. I cant give too much away (it is a unique concept) but basically I'm using clips of popular TV shows straight from YouTube (I am not downloading or hosting the videos, they are being played direct from YouTube servers using their Player API). As I am not directly downloading/hosting/editing the videos, but simply allowing other users to view videos via my site, will there be any issues with copyrights? The end project will be free-use (you will not have to pay to use) and so I cannot afford insurance for the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I'm with No-Wires (http://www.no-wires.net/) and their service is spot on. I havent had THAT much experience with hosts but they always reply to my queries within a few hours (even if its not their problem, but a problem with my code they still help!), they have minimal/no downtime, great bandwidth and good prices. Great service all round! Btw, there are no referral links here, I do not have any affiliation with them. I just love their service!
  13. Terms of Use http://www.map-of-uk.com/about.htm Thanks anyway! Anyone else know any good sources?
  14. Hi all, Not sure where to post so put this here. I desperate need of a map of GB for use on a web project, and dont know where to find one thats not copyright protected. I need something with markings similar to this one (just need major cities/places highlighted): http://nl007.k12.sd.us/Classes/English%20IV/Brit%20Lit/great-britain%20map.gif Or even if i could use that one. Cant see any copyrights, any advice? (Its from an educational site) Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks P.S. The site is a non-profit, news/article site. Main function is similar to that of a free blog.
  15. Hi all, I have recently decided to start an e-publication for one of my websites, but im having alot of trouble with sourcing the images for the publication. Previously I would have gone to a free stock image site, but with a specialised publication (hobby-based, so theres not alot of stock images available for it) im having trouble finding images from these sources. Can I use images from google images, providing they are credited correctly some where in the publication? Also, does anyone have any tips as to the general design/layout of the publication. Its basically one a3 page = one page of the publication (its nothing major, along the lines of a newsletter - 4 pages)? Many Thanks in advance
  16. Usually you would use CSS, something like this: text-align: left; placed in the css of the container div
