Just Host?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I was looking at some web hosts to host my new site and i came across justhost.com . Now for £1.95 per month you get a free domain and whats seems to be a reasonable deal... but for this price is it trust worthy. And also does any one recommend a web host service?

Cheers, <3

I'd highly recommend you have a search of both this forum, and google for reviews about them, you may just find that "unlimited everything" has many catches behind it, same as EVERY company offering unlimited resources, who then need to have endles T&C's to incorporate all the different ways you cant use it.

Typically, companies like that have extremely low resource allowances, such as CPU time, memory usage and so on, so its extremely unrealistic, whereas companies who prices their plans realistically, in line with what people realistically use, can offer far more CPU resources, memory and other such items due to them being priced correctly.

Otherwise, for £24, minus the £6 it costs them for the domain name, what kind of service would you really expect for your £18 a years worth of unlimited everything?...

I'm sure many here will all tell you about the companies selling unlimited resources..... You are well advised to avoid the headaches.

One customer once told me "£1 saved, is another £10 lost in downtime / restrictions / needing endless support where things dont work or get broken / etc / etc)

Bit cheeky too, hosting what is meant to look like a "UK" company, in the USA too.. If they wont even host their own website in the UK, then they certainly wouldnt host yours here either..

Their prices are weird too, both their shared plans have the exact same resources (That dont exist), yet one is £5 a month more, and only comes with 2 extra free domains for life, yet those domains are only £5 a year for UK names or £10 a yr for TLD names)

For such a young company, they have a lot to learn, there really isnt any difference between them and all the other US based oversellers, so it wouldnt matter which one you went with, a lot of US based hosting is highly oversold.

Thank you for your reply,

I'm glad you said that because it all seemed a bit to good to be true...

Is their any hosting services you would recomend from your experience?

Thanks again,

Krannky

I'm with No-Wires (http://www.no-wires.net/) and their service is spot on. I havent had THAT much experience with hosts but they always reply to my queries within a few hours (even if its not their problem, but a problem with my code they still help!), they have minimal/no downtime, great bandwidth and good prices. Great service all round!

Btw, there are no referral links here, I do not have any affiliation with them. I just love their service!
