  1. Whats the latest on your project Stefan? Oh and merry Christmas for 2morro everyone!
  2. HAHA! he's only gone and hit the nail bang on the head! Whoops, i knew it would be something silly. O well best get on with it! Cheers man
  3. Im sure everything will be explained should you show your interest. Hes not just going to blurt all the plans out on here is he. I'll drop you an email PK when i get a moment, sounds fun what ever it is!
  4. i've changed the method to GET, i'm wondering wether its something to do with the submit input on the form... take another look. When you get the string printed out it shows both the email string and the submit value in the url. When it doesnt work it doesnt show the submit value. So the isset($_GET['submit']) won't work so it prints the page out as normal. Think im on the right lines?
  5. and now it seems to be working :S argh ive not touched the code! what on earth is going on! possible host issues perhaps?? ignore that its not working again
  6. Ok, i was just making screen shots and i've realised that the problem isnt the @ sign. no wonder i could find any thing on it. It seems really random. i tried entering the string 'without' and it didnt do anything. but a rnadom set of letters such as 'sfsefse' does work and it is printed out as it should be. here is the link see to the form http://www.billinghamtrampolineclub.co.uk/retreivelogin.php ive programmed for a while now but have never had a weird problem like this. It will probably still come down to a silly little error.
  7. Below is how i have it set out in the php file. I intend on adding some mysql and mail() functions to it but for now this doesnt even work. This is copied straight from the php file. if(isset($_POST['submit'])){ $email = $_POST['email']; if(strlen($email)>0){ print $email; }else{ print 'Nothing has been entered<br /><br />'; } } print 'If you have already registered an email address with your account, enter that address below and your username and password will be sent to you immediately. Please delete the email once you have used it.<br /><br />'; print '<form name="email" method="post" action="retreivelogin.php"> Email: <input type="text" name="email" /><br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Retreive login details" />'; thanks again J. Vickers
  8. Hey guys, I have a simple form which allows the user to enter an email address associated with there account into an input field. I'll show you the code: Form code <form name="email" method="post" action="retreivelogin.php"> Email: <input type="text" name="email" /><br /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Retreive login details" /> retrivelogin.php code if(isset($_POST['submit'])){ $email = $_POST['email']; print $email; } Now the problem bieng that the @ sign seems to be ruining it somehow... standrad text strings print out nicely as they should, where as email addresses don't. I have searched for hours for a solution but running low on time and need to get this working. Thank you in advance Jonathan Vickers
  9. would depend how you made the drop shadow, photoshop it and you'll be fine, maybe someone else has other methods of creating drop shadows lol
  10. use a drop shadow effect along the bottom of the header. On top of a lighter background - i dunno, might not work but probably worth a try.
  11. how does it look with just a white background and a drop shadow coming off the header?
  12. Looking at it again i think the header needs shrinking abit before continueing the right side across the page - hopefully it would look quite cool and that would help balance the page a little bit, as at the moment the header is soo big and in your face the page content may appear abit overshadowed. think that is a good idea? So basically it would be good to have the actual image you've already got taking up maybe a 3rd of the width then the other 2 3rds just a continuation of the colours from the logo. Understand what i mean? im abit tired so my wording may be abit off!
  13. I like the header, looks like it should be on the side of a tube of toothpaste. its always weird experimenting with black backgrounds... no matter what you seem to try theres always an amateurish feel to it. I have seen some examples where it has worked ok, will try and pick a few out and post back Jonny Vickers
  14. Hey WDF Think it would be a cool idea if people could post some sketches theyve made for a specific project and if possible link it to a finished product. I'll try and get some designs scanned in as everything i do starts on paper. Looking foward to seeing peoples work! Jonny Vickers
  15. haha sorry, the site seems good on first glance. proffessional looking. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but the awards, latest poles and latest articles section comes off the bottom of the the page on certain pages. Logo design with the arrows that 'stretch' nearly the full length of it - I assume that is kinda the effect you wanted. Jonny Vickers
  16. AUDI limo! thats cool haha
  17. Some of this guys work is pretty outstanding... the portfolio website itself uses an amazing background even if it is abit dark on the whole. Anyone agree?
  18. HAHA i actually said WOW outloud when i saw the opening splash screen pop up. pretty cool site, good fun hehe
  19. Think you're misundersdtanding the point of using css instead of tables. Navigation will be exactly the same as it would should you have used tables, you'll just have more flexibility over how the 'navigation section' looks. And thats all css does, dictates how the page will look to a user. The reason we use them over tables as we can change an entire websites look by editing a single line of code in a single css document. Jonny
  20. Can see why that would have that effect! Theyve worked on some pretty impressive jobs and companies too... Call of Duty, Lucas Arts, quantum of solace video game website... the list goes on! Jonny Vickers
  21. Best idea i've heard in aggggggeeees. Sounds like well good fun. Be nice if you could couple some of the broadcasts with video content showing different web design related features, or maybe a direct link to the dj's desktop at certain times so he can run some reviews off or something, short tutorials perhaps. Jonny Vickers
  22. Its very grey! This won't help keep the attention of your readers, infact it may turn them away before starting to read at all. Look HERE to get some ideas on how to improve the appearance through use of colour. Some imagery as part of the design would be helpful too.
  23. hey people I was thinking for a while early about the best website i'd ever seen but could put my finger on it. Seeing so many i guess thats why i found it pretty hard. Has anyone ever had a website design stick so badly that they could honestly say its the best design theyd ever seen? If so please link it if you can and remember its your own personal prefernce that i'm after, for what ever reason you like Jonny
