The best payment set up is really going to be decided on what your client is doing, is the main priority cheap fee's, or is there specific types of payment that they need to cater for, there are no easy ways of answering that, it will have to be researched either by you for your client, or by your client.
 
Have a look at PCI compliance but keep in mind that depending on how you take payment over the site, it may not be applicable, but its best to thoroughly research it at the outset.
 
There is no easy way of explaining what a gateway and merchant account is to a non web developer, keep it simple and point them in the direction of some of the providers of gateways and merchant accounts, aswell as talking to web developers all day their customer services also deal with people who are taking the plunge and trying to set up stores on their own with limited tech knowledge, so they are use to putting things in basic terms.
 
Put simply, if you explain that they need a payment gateway to take payments from their website.
then they need a merchant account to receive the money they are taking from their site.
and as with any financial product this must be set up by the person who is going to be using it.

I agree, Wordpress doesn't take that long to learn the basics of if you already know PHP and will have far more features for your client to use than one you develop yourself.

It is annoying, although does serve a purpose so people know who has applied or shown interest.
 
Could also be used to target people who often pick up the same type of jobs.. instead of looking to hire, ask a few selected people individually. Though if they don't contribute to the rest here, it is just annoying.

The scheme chooser i posted is aimed at web designers, and it also gives Hex and RGB for the schemes. it also has far more features. but thanks for the link some may find it useful.

I took a look at the colour scheme chooser you posted a link to. I wasn't much for the tool itself but I did like the way it gave you a page preview.
 
For web designers something like this tool would probably be more useful http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html as it gives you all the HEX web colour values as well as the RGB values for Photoshop users.

Dont know if many of you have come across this already, but though I would share anyway.
 
Its a colour scheme generator with a few useful bits and bobs bolted on, you can have a look at a mock page with your chosen scheme on, change hue and brightness, saturation etc, then get all the hex values, it has an export feature for grabbing your chosen scheme, it even has a simulator for how the scheme looks to people with varying sight problems.
 
Its pretty good does have a few flaws but generally quite useful. Have a look and see what you think.

Yer your favicon is working dude, it might not be on your local machine as you need to clear your cache etc they can be a bit stubborn showing up in certain browsers with out a decent clear out.

Let him limp, that way he cant say you prescribed the wrong treatment and bad mouth you, affecting your rep. When he has had enough of dragging his leg behind him he will be back.

There is some sound advice there, one thing I would like to add, dont get too caught up in the frame of mind that "This design program will make me a great designer" software is a tool and like all tools it's only ever as good as the person wielding it.
 
I have seen some spectacular sites created with free software, that has relied on knowledge and consideration, as Eris stated above a good design is the sum of its parts, its the research, the typography, the code under the hood as well as what is produced in your chosen graphics package. please dont get caught up in the
"Photoshop IS Design" cult.

I stand by my comments, and they weren't negative at all. If you read them, they simply point out some issues that may have hindered you in finding someone to assist you, and some that may have put some people off from following through. Fortunately you've now had some offers of help and I hope you can work with one of them.

Frankly there is no point in discussing this project with those who's only concerns are money. I have recieved interest from a few members of the forum who are interested in the project more than the payment. This is a good indication of someone i will be able to WORK with, not simply pay.

May i add to this post that as a moderator you need to consider your manners. There was no problems with the first post i made, and other members agree via PM. I suggest you reconsider your position in this forum, negative comments do not help anyone, and your comments were negative to say the least. Thanks to those members who have come forward offering the support/advice without mentioning money within minutes.
 
I would also suggest if your time is so important, if you spend less time writing thousands of negative posts, you may be able to clean your house! And it goes without saying you will add to my negative feedback as you already have, but forums are for HELP
