I think I have an issue with your layout. The thumbnails should be the more prominent. By having them on the bottom in a separate box they feel disjointed. Move them up, maybe float them to the left of the text.

Sound loop is still annoying, it's loud and short and really. I liked it for the first 2 seconds, then it gave me a headache. Also, users are not going to expect it and may end up closing their browser. Seems like you are pretty insistent on keeping it, do you think it enhances the experience? The arrows are your portfolio nav, don't work, when clicking on them, I'm expecting to go to the next thumbnail. You should remove the auto scroll based on mouse position, it takes way to long to get to the next thumbnail. And show a status below each thumbnail(like viewing 1 of 8, etc..). Lastly, I still think your work images could be a lot bigger. Lastly, I don't really get the text bubbles. Why are they there? I didn't find them funny or clever. Put some info on your "homepage" (default state of site), like maybe some info about you, or your work, or something. It feels like wasted space. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Personally, I think you can come up with a better metaphor. Rule #1, stay away from natural disasters. Unless you can disassociate it from snow, which may be difficult. When I think of an avalanche, I think of people getting buried in the snow as a result of an avalanche. It's equivalent to something like "Tsunami Web Development". The first person you should hire for your new company is a Web Designer, to create a nice looking website. Not crazy about the one you have now.

I highly doubt not one person in your usability study had a problem navigating your site. Especially since almost everyone in this form has complained about it. So my answer to your question, your test is flawed or somehow you were leading users to hover the menu. Most of the users on this forum would probably be considered, "mediasmart", so one has to assume that we would be more your target audience. A friend of mine did something similar for the Chipotle website... http://www.chipotle.com/ With some obvious considerations. 1. flash menu first, then hide. 2. logo/menu reacts to user most location. Which in my opinion, made the menu treatment effective. Good luck.

OK, I'm not going to hold back.. Your site is horrible. It's totally unusable. The sound loop is off, I immediately muted it. I couldn't figure out what to do when I loaded the page. When I finally did figure it out, I had a hard time clicking on visit links. After a few tries, I gave up because I felt motion sickness. If your intent of the site is to present your work, I strongly suggest you re-think this approach. Make the navigation visible by default, get rid of that mouse arrow scroller, make the viewing area 300% bigger and get rid of that really bad sound loop. Good luck.

Looking at your website, I feel like I traveled back in time about 10 years. Here are some things I think could make it better. 1. Loose the welcome message, replace it with your name 2. Loose the animation in the header, make it only display where you are on the site. 3. Make the navigation highlight where you are on the site 4. Make the blog page long, don't make it scroll in the div 5. What's up with your line height? Seems to change way too much (on MAC FF3) 6. Proof read your content, it's very poorly written. Here are some examples... "You will have to bviously add your own images and edit the Google image." "...why not try changing the CSS to for a different design to what I have!" 7. Please save us, and not use the blink tag 8. Why even have a portfolio? You just have a screenshot of the site you're already on. You should check out some design sites, take what you like, copy it, change it, etc... Some may disagree, but the best way to learn is to copy what already works (without ripping obviously). Hey guys, thanks. Unfortunately, with the ad requirements, I feel a lot of the sites I produce are very similar in layout. 728x90 and 300x250 pretty much dictate my layout.

These non-conventional designs are really hard to judge by just looking at 1 mock-up. As a design, it's nice. Will it be a good website, that depends on your sub pages, navigation and animation (if there is any), how will the sub pages look, how much work will be on the site, etc..
