December 28, 2025Dec 28 Will Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) totally make SEO obsolete? What are y'all's opinions? Edited December 28, 2025Dec 28 by modiphy
December 28, 2025Dec 28 It's a made up thing. The sort of thing youtuber like to blather on about. SEO is a subset of marketing. The rules of marketing haven't changed, just the method of delivery.
January 7Jan 7 AEO (or GEO, or LLMSEO, or AISEO) are not going to replace SEO, they're just a bit of an evolution of it. AI chat bots are just another way that people search, and earning citations in them will just become a standard part of an SEO's job going forwards. Not to mention that, generally speaking, good SEO will lead to good AI placement anyway.
January 14Jan 14 Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is not a fad—it’s the future of search. With search evolving toward answer-focused results, AEO is essential for any serious online presence.

The local plumber doesn't need AEO - they just need a GBP A local butcher promoting a special offer doesn't need AEO (they may just need SMM) An online store using a range of marketing methods doesn't need AEO. The NHS in the UK doesn't need AEO. The government website doesn't need AEO Good SEO will suffice for generating AI snippets.

February 14Feb 14 Answer Engine Optimization is not going to make SEO obsolete. It helps structure content so search engines can show direct answers, featured snippets, and voice results, which can improve visibility for larger websites or information-heavy content. For most local businesses, small stores, or simple online shops, traditional SEO and good marketing practices are still enough. to be precise, AEO is useful as an extra layer, but it does not replace the basics of SEO.
