April 17, 20251 yr Hey, I’m Ksusha, product designer at a small remote team where everyone wears multiple hats. The CEO also develops, I'm as a designer manages marketing and writes specs, the developer juggles several projects at once... and none of us has time to figure out how to use yet another overcomplicated platform just to keep work organized. 🌀 A Day in My Designer Life (Before Dun) ☕️ Morning starts with my boss having a client meeting on Google Meet 📝 He sets a task for me in Shortcut (which we also share with the client) 📩 I get an email notification — because Shortcut has no iOS app (and my inbox is full of spam) 💬 If I have questions, I ping my boss in Slack 🗨 Clients leave feedback… sometimes in Shortcut threads, sometimes in Slack DMs 🖍 Some feedback also lands in Figma comments 📸 If I need to show my boss what the client said, I screenshot messages from 2–3 different apps 🎨 Once I’m done with the designs, I send them to the developer in Slack 🔄 Then either my boss or I set up a dev task in Shortcut and remind the dev about it in Slack …And that’s not even the full cycle. We weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel. We just wanted something simple that: Doesn’t overwhelm you with features Lets you keep thoughts, tasks, files, and convos in one place Doesn’t charge per seat, per feature, or per emoji Just… works We tried “minimalist” tools, but they either lacked key stuff (like real collaboration), or were simple in design but not in use. And don’t get me started on onboarding flows that feel like prepping for a space mission. So we built Dun. Dun allows you to organize all your work by cards—topics. Everything related to a certain topic is always located in the same place – all docs, tasks, files, and relevant discussions. Work on topics privately, share them with your team or clients, and you can make them private again anytime. Organize your topics into separate workspaces by project. Create as many as you like, no limits. You can also already use Dun on your phone and add it to your home screen like an app with push notifications. Dun was created to help small teams and freelancers avoid: Chaotic, endless chats and tasks that lose sight of the goal Juggling multiple tools for communication, project and task management, file storage Losing focus Endless subscription payments It’s not perfect — but it’s ours (and maybe yours too?) We’re still actively using it, testing it, and breaking it. Yeah, some UX still needs love. But the core is solid — and we use it every day. If you’re in a small team, freelancing, or just tired of tool overload, maybe Dun can help you too. https://dun.wtf My Email: kksrm@p11.co
April 17, 20251 yr You might want to rethink the domain. WTF doesn't mean what you think it means. I've just created an account and can't find the help files or KB. How do I start a conversation with a client? How do I invite a client to join the conversation?
April 17, 20251 yr Author Haha yeah, the domain actually came way before Dun was even a thing, it started more as a joke with a bold tone of voice. We’re planning to change it later, but it’s not a priority for the MVP right now We don’t have formal guidelines yet, but we’re working on an onboarding flow, it’s in progress! If you want to use Dun with a client, here’s how: 1. Create a new project 2. Create a topic, either add some content or just name it like “1:1 with Client Name” and start a discussion in the topic (right sidebar) 3. Share the project link with your client. 4. Once they join, you can either share the specific topic with them or make a topic public from the start so any new user sees it right away.
April 17, 20251 yr It seems like they need to create an account. How can I just send an invite without them needing to sign up? I don't see a way to make a conversation public once it has been started Nor can I see a way to start a new discussion. I deal with hundreds of people all over the world and most will be very of signing up to just download a zip or send me some data or whatever. The app needs a more useful dashboard menu. And the font is awful. And please give me a white background. My eyes aren't very good after 65 years so I need a strong contrast.
April 23, 20251 yr Author Yes, nobody can see the content without an registered account, it's not just an editor, it's a workspace. For example you can't share work slack channel with a person who are not invited to the team and signed in. Discussions are connected to topics, if you want someone sees a discussion, you have to share the topic where it's located with a certain user or make it public, so any new user in the project will have an access to this topic and discussions inside. You can start a new discussion inside a topic, discussions linked to editors lines/strokes You can create a topic and attached files there.
April 23, 20251 yr Which means I need to ask clients to create an account to have a conversation. It would be a much better for the client if I used their preferred means of communication. Where is the button to send an invite for them to sign up? I still don't get the topic thing. If I have a project called AAA I want talk to the client about the colour of a button. normally I'd just email or use a chat app to do this. Are you suggesting I need to create a new topic 'button colour' and then start a new discussion? Tomorrow we want to ask about a modal. Do I need to create a new topic and discussion? If so this is soon going to get very complicated. On a complicated there are hundreds of different question that go back and forth often with multiple screenshots and markups to share. How with your app do I drop a screenshot into the convo? I can't even workout how to attach a file. You have built dun to make your workflow simpler. Which is great. But it needs a whole lot of work to make it useful for everyone else.
