I know very little about SEO, but I have a Go Daddy template website, and recently have received notices that it is, ranking almost nothing! with search engines! Apparently due to a lack of KEYWORDS! There is an  AI  Keyword entering method for their Templates, but it puts the words into headings and text areas on the page, that just Mess up the design! I am wondering, since I used to upload & Maintain  my own website files, would there be any way of installing the keywords, in HTML within the pages source code? or am I just stuck with this AI websites controls? here is URL to it  johnstenger.com  Thank You John

Keywords are what your target audience would be typing into search engines to find you: 

John Stenger
Artist
Artwork
Painter
Gallery
Los Angeles
Fort Lauderdale

You've got a good amount of these on your 'About' page
Try to include the main ones in the meta description of each page of the website

I'd suggest having a think about the function of your home page too as it currently just has the top nav menu, the graphics and the sign up for newsletter bits

If it was me, there would be a short intro and a photo of yourself working on your most recent painting. The intro is another chance to use those keywords

Thank You for your help! According to SEO notices I have been receiving, I am not Ranking well with search engines! I have had the website for over a year now, and Godaddy view counter says I have received 1116 views in past 12 months! I recently used some DIBS Scanner, and these are the Analytics I am getting. from them! Actually I am not sure of how poorly my site is doing! but I will add a text section to the home page as you suggest!

As @Jogeta316 rightly pointed out, keywords are the words & phrases your audience would use to find you on Google. To optimise your website, try to imagine what your ideal client might search for.

After looking at your website, one of the primary reasons for the low rankings is the lack of text on most pages. Google struggles to understand a page based solely on images; it requires textual content and meta information to grasp the page's subject matter.

I recommend adding a paragraph or two to your homepage, elaborating on your profile and offerings. I'd also, provide more detailed descriptions and context for each painting on your portfolio page. For instance, while few people search for "In The Blue of The Evening," the term "Evening Sky Painting" attracts approximately 90 monthly searches.

A quick win would be refining your page meta titles. Instead of "John Stenger" for your portfolio page, consider something like "Abstract Artist Portfolio | John Stenger" to incorporate keywords and your brand name.

Finally, leverage your News section more effectively. If your website set up allows it, turn each project into its own blog post. Here you can expand on each project, detailing the commissioning process, painting creation, and installation. This will help to improve Google's understanding of the page and naturally incorporates relevant keywords too.

There is a whole bunch of other important SEO things you can look at after this such as links, but get your content in order first, then go from there.

Number 1 problem is using godaddy. If you want to rank for anything useful you need to use a better platform for your website

Don't go anywhere near anything AI for your webite. Google will knock your down faster than you can blink. There are uses for AI to help write content but that's for later on..

Google is looking for words not pictures. It needs to see all the ducks lined up:

Page title > Description > H1 > Introductory content > Sections headings > supporting content.

It also expects to see good internal linking, calls to action, trust marks, legal pages, privacy policy, contact details (name, address, telephone, email).

The first thing to ask is: what is the purpose of the website?

You seem to have a good client list and are displayed in various locations so one assumes your painting sell well. Why do you need a website? Are you hoping to attract visitors who want to commission a painting? Or is it just a portfolio?

Are you targeting locally or do you want a national or even international audience?

Everything is possible. But not if you stick with godaddy (or any other site builder).

Take a look at WordPress. They have some fantasic portfolio themes - many for free. You will need hosting but the oportunities for future development far outweigh any thing a site builder can offer.

And you can switch between themes without having to recreate your content.

Thank You, fisicx Is Wordpress fairly easy for someone like me, to make my own changes? it is not manipulated  only with knowledge of CSS or HTML code? 

The learning curve might be a bit steep to begin with but there are thousands of tutorial to watch or read. Once you get the hang of how it all works it's easy. If you get stuck Google is your friend.

You don't need to know anything about HTML/CSS.

You can choose from thousands of free themes/templates.

You can choose from thousands of plugins to add functionality.

Other than your hosting costs everything is free.
