Looks like a pretty good and clean design to me! Keep up the good work!

Perfect for showing off your work. Keeps the focus on the images displayed and no distractions. I like it. Only thing is keep in mind not everyone going to that site will have the high resolution monitors like you have. It will have a scroll bar <--> for most people.

very nice!

Agree with TFM that you'll need to be careful how big you make it as full size, it doesn't fit onto my screen!

Liking the art gallery style layout though, very fitting with your architectural showcase

That's for the comments,

I'm new to web design so this is really my first project.

How do I over come the problem of users having to use the scroll bars to view the images.

(I would like all the images to appear on screen without scroll bars)

You would need to make the total site width less than 1024 pixels wide. If your new to this and building it how it looks on your monitor you could set your resolution to 1024X768 so you can see how your site looks on a majority of browsers.

I'm with TFM on this one. Clean design and perfect for it's purpose, but with the majority of browsers being smaller than yours, I certainly wouldn't like to scroll to see the full image. One of my pet hates on websites. I hate scrolling horizontally.

I really like it

Clean design, good colors

Like everyone else said - make sure you don't have to scroll sideways...

Show a resized version of the image, when it's clicked load the full one.

I would always use a 1024x768 canvas for website designs, that will give you a feel for your limits on that still popular screen resolution, and most people probably have their browsers around this size too (unless they still haven't gotten over the terrible maximise-everything habit ^^), because most fixed-size websites make this assumption.

I would also try to move the left column a bit further to the left, to create more padding between the logo and the navigation. I feel that the navigation should be more visually separated, and that would be one way to do this (probably not the best).
