16 Page Brochure...

Featured Replies

I have been asked to produce a 16 page brochure, now it has been a while since I did any print work and am more focused on web now, so am a little unsure on how much to quote for this.

How much would you charge for a 16page brochure?

Or another way is how many hours would you charge for this?

Any help would be great.

Thanks Mike

how much design work is there? e.g do you need to make a logo, will it require a comlicated design or be on the simple side? need to purcahse any fonts or stock photos? will there be a lot of image work - retouching, prep etc. it can take quite some time to process say 20 photos if they're badly taken, etc.

do you have an initial design or any branding to work from or wil it be starting from a blank canvas with several revisions? don't forget also that searching for stock photos can take quite some time.

make sure you get the text in a suitable format . open/libre office, txt, Word, google docs... so no typing involved and photos supplied at sufficient res wherever possible (and NOT some low res jpeg pasted into Word... :) )

set a deadline waaaay before the real (print) one so that when you're still waiting for copy or final pics it's not too much of a rush for you ;)

what are you using for the layout? if you have adobe suite or similar then first choice would be indesign. if you're open source then scribus is an alternative (i've tried it and for free it's not bad at all, though coming from a few years of indesign then it wasn't as smooth for me ;) )

check with the printer the specs for the job - and what they need . pdf options and/or indesign file for example.

for something simple i would imagine 2 day's work - more comlplicated/problems/revisions/illustrations then 4-5
