Creating a blog page

Featured Replies

Hi All

Need some guidance on something that I thought was pretty simple.

I would like to create a blog section on my website. The site has been designed using Wordpress by a third party and is fairly bespoke.

Following the guidelines about creating a blog page gets me a little stuck as setting the Posts Page via 'Settings > Reading' doesnt really work as this is based on default template?!?.

Basically all Im after is a page layout that holds the recent posts in the main content area and posts navigation / archive section on the right handside. Nothing too troublesome I thought.

Is there a plugin or a suggested page template that would help me out here?

Hope this makes sense.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Nock

Thanks for Replying so quickly

heres a link to the current blog page with a couple of test posts in place :

http://www.budgetskipsdirect.co.uk/blog/

You can see posts are not clickable and theres no posts archive / navigation on the right handside.

The guys that built the site basically pointed me towards creating a page and setting the page as the posts page. But the results as above are quite underwhelming to say the least.

Would you have any ideas on how to create such a page?

Many Thanks

Hey All

Really need some assistance with this one.

On the face of it, it seems fairly straight forward as all I need in a blog page that shows archived posts on the right of the page and most recent posts in the main content area. However it seems im limited as the guys that designed the site to my instructions I might add (so blame me) didnt leave any room for a blog section or at least a decent template page to meet my new requirements.

Can anyone help?

Thanks again

hi friend i think you need to create a category for your blog posts and when you create a post publish it under the category you created for blog posts.

And set the sidebar at the wedget area.

for a bespoke site it's unfortunately not at all responsive. With the amount of people browsing with smaller devices—mobile, tablets etc,—it's probably more of a priority than your blog ;) not to say the blog isn't important but basic site functionality comes first.
