June 9, 200818 yr its out july 11th, comes in white or black, and is no more than £100 says steve jobs: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-9960064-37.html glad its out soon, my contract ran out last week cos i was waiting for it lol Hurry up apple lol
June 9, 200818 yr Just heard this on the live feed… I'm so getting one now – the only reason I hadn't before was because of the price and the lack of 3G. Having GPS and double the battery live and all the other cool new stuff is just going to make me climax… multiple times! My contract ends soon as well, what perfect timing!

June 9, 200818 yr Just wait for the Apple-bashers to come out from under their rocks… "Oh, but the iPhone is crap because…" Just so you all know… I'd quite happily use a Windows phone / piece of software / hardware if it did what I wanted and looked how I wanted. I'm happily using a Microsoft keyboard on my Mac at this very moment.
June 9, 200818 yr The Apple iPhone section has been updated with all the new stuff – this'll help the wait for payday…
June 9, 200818 yr I too am using a windows keyboard and mouse on my mac... Now this iPhone for £100 how much will it cost to stay online make calls etc and could I put a blyk sim card in.
June 9, 200818 yr It looks like you'll be tied to a 2 year contract, but it's hardly much/any more money then a normal contract. I pay just as much now as I would on an iPhone contract – and I don't even use this phone much
June 9, 200818 yr i really want one now ha ha i reckon i'll buy one... Ipod + Phone in one and all this new extra stuff could you get better.. cue apple bashers... i'd be hacking it anyway...
June 9, 200818 yr And free in the uk! Digg it! http://digg.com/apple/iPhone_3G_Will_Be_Free_In_The_UK
June 9, 200818 yr Author FREE? I think I just pooed Thats fantastic, not sure about the white edition though
June 10, 200818 yr Free is a result. I was going to get it anyway as my Orange contract ran out. Bit crap that existing O2 users have to pay 100 quid. I would leave now and then resign up next month.
June 10, 200818 yr Cannot WAIT! If the contract is in-expensive, I'll go on it, but if O2 is cranking up the cash then I'll be waiting for the jailbreak release
June 10, 200818 yr Here's the official low-down - http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/paymonthly It's only free on £45 or more per month tariffs. It's £99 on the £30-£35 per month - which is still OK to me, better than £250 or whatever the last one was. The same deal for existing O2 customers.
June 10, 200818 yr Wonder if we are EVER going to get the iPhone in the Netherlands. First one hasn't been introduced here yet
June 10, 200818 yr Very happy about this! 3g is a total must on any phone -- for me anyway Roll on next month!
June 10, 200818 yr ridejong - not only do you beat the Italians 3-0 but it looks like the iPhone is heading your way on 11th July too - http://www.apple.com/nl/iphone/
June 10, 200818 yr I can't believe the pricing! I've been saving up for an iPod touch, but boy am I tempted just to get an iPhone now...
June 10, 200818 yr Pricing - GREAT Contracts - So-so (good to see a slightly cheaper £30 one, but its not good value imho) PAYG - intriguing... will be watching news on this eagerly. Phone Features - 3G (ace), GPS (ace), Camera (boo, no upgraded camera), Copy n Paste (where are u?), Document editing (where are u?) SDK and App Store - AMAZING POTENTIAL. this is the main bit I am interested in, the iPhone as a new mobile platform. Some of the demos looked superb. being connected all the time, and with GPS will allow for some amazingly creative applications. I can't wait. Monkey Ball - what more can I say!? Biggest and saddest thing about the 3G iPhone - I still have nearly a year left on my current T-Mobile contract
June 11, 200818 yr Yeah I read a lot about this new iPhone yesterday. I'm in a bit of a predicament, basically I've been on a £35/month contract with 02 for ages, my 18 month contract is up in the next couple of weeks and I've been looking for new phones. Originally I decided I wanted the Nokia N95 8GB (the black one) as it had pretty much everything but now this iPhone is coming out I'm tempted by that. I know, on paper, the N95 is a lot better and has more features but the iPhone is an iPhone . The N95 would be free as an upgrade I think whereas a 16GB iPhone is £159 (although would I get discount as I'm at 'upgrade time'?) Any advice?
June 11, 200818 yr You're after advice...? OK... DON'T get the N95 - its a bag of hammers. Clunky doesnt even come close. It doesnt feel like any of the features are integrated at all. The GPS sucks, the video playback sucks. The 5MP camera quality is average - it also looks appalling (in my opinion). The iPhone would be a wiser choice at this point... look at whats coming with the SDK and App Store. Its gonna be a good time to own an iPod over the next 12 months. Imagine if you lumbered yourself with an N95 for the next 18 months.. you'd be gutted! FREE isn't always the best option.

Imagine if you lumbered yourself with an N95 for the next 18 months.. you'd be gutted! FREE isn't always the best option. I completely agree with the free isn't always the best option thing. Ok - I've never really read anything bad about the N95 and I thought with this new one they'd ironed out a lot of problems they had with the original. Cheers for the heads up with that. Oh, I'll read into the SDK and App store as well... How are iPhones to generally live with, i.e. size, carrying in your pocket, keeping 'clean' etc - I worry a little that they might be hard to look after, if you know what I mean Thanks
June 11, 200818 yr I don't own an iPhone, but I do have an iPod Touch, so I can testify to the interface and most of the built in applications of the iPhone (all good). I do carry ot around a lot, but not every day as I would a phone. I keep it in a soft case... I doubt I would do that with an iPhone if I had one. Friends who have them say they dont treat them any differently to a normal phone, they just shove them in their pocket as they normally would.. the glass front is supposed to be pretty scratch resistant, but the back wont be!
June 11, 200818 yr So let me get this right... despite the fact that I've been on the £35/month contract for a few years, if I buy an iPhone at upgrade time my contract will change, i.e. for years I've paid £35 and got 600 minutes/1000 texts (plus free 02 weekend calls) and if I get an iPhone I'll still pay £35 yet only get 600 minutes and 500 texts...
June 11, 200818 yr I can't comment on specifics of tariffs, but put it this way - it wouldn't surprise me, if you were correct. I assume some of it will be to do with the Unlimited data that you get with an iPhone contract. Do you get that now on your current contract? If you don't, and don't want it and would rather keep the exact contract you have, I imagine you would have to speak to them directly and try and strike a deal!
June 17, 200818 yr The Apple iPhone section has been updated with all the new stuff – this'll help the wait for payday… There is nothing wrong with the iPhone - but it's just far too over-glorified for what it is. However, I wouldn't complain if someone happened to give me one (hint hint).
June 17, 200818 yr Its the best mobile phone interface I have ever used. So I think that is something to be glorified. Apple stuff always gets too much hype I agree, but in this case, in some respects, its justified, despite the iPhone lacking in some features that some very cheap and bog standard phones have had for years!
June 17, 200818 yr Like I've always said, if Nokia, Sony Ericsson, or any phone manufacturer come out with a product that looks as good as the iPhone and has an interface which is as beautiful to use then I'd switch like that. Unfortunately it seems Apple are one of the only brands that really cares about design, detail and the end-user – hype or no hype.
