March 25, 200719 yr I thought this would be of use to you all. This page indicates roughly how many backlinks are needed to gain a certain pagerank, it also takes into consideration the PR of the site linking to you. Though you might be interested to see. Link: http://www.getlisted.me.uk/SEO/
April 5, 200818 yr Thats completely inaccurate. PR is not just based on the quantity of inbound links that you have....
April 28, 200818 yr It appears to be a rough guide, but I do believe a pinch of salt is required.. As from what I have read, the PR formula is unknown and as such us mer mortals can but guess the requirements to get that illusive spot on honour!! But as asda says, every little helps
April 29, 200818 yr I would have to agree that tat is inaccurate, because much is based on traffic (organic and paid), relevance of inbound links, code structure, site structure, among many others.
April 29, 200818 yr because much is based on traffic (organic and paid) Exactly how? I'm interested in this theory - it's not one I've come across before.
April 30, 200818 yr one of my clients sites has no inbound links and are at PR2 my blog has around 800+ backlinks and is PR3 (was PR4) So I don't think that is completely accurate
April 30, 200818 yr As I said before, its not about quantity. 1 link from the BBC is worth 400 links from random little blogs
April 30, 200818 yr I see, but how is it a site can get PR2 without *any* backlinks? I honestly have no idea how pagerank works (I didn't even know I had a PR a few months ago) and I don't strive for a high PR but I am curious.
June 1, 200818 yr Show me a site with no backlinks! Hi, Here you go http://dougswebdesign.com/ Back link Status: # Google/ AOL/ HotBot: 0 # Yahoo!/ FAST/ AltaVista: 0 PR 2 Without Any Back Links as of 31/May/2008 frankly speaking i am also amazed how it reached PR 2 , and not a Single backlink on either Yahoo or Google. I have a few other site similar to this without a Single back link and they are PR 2 any ideas ? i am interested to know if there is a explanation for this Peace Orange
June 1, 200818 yr ^Thats why I agree that a site doesn't need a whole heap of backlinks to get a good rank. One of my old sites had a rank of 4 but only had maybe 10 backlinks (and they weren't high PR backlinks) ETA: actually you have 98 backlinks according to this

One of my old sites had a rank of 4 but only had maybe 10 backlinks (and they weren't high PR backlinks) ETA: actually you have 98 backlinks according to this Hi, I use http://marketleap.com Link popularity checker to check for back links and it still shows one back link that i created last week and i am sure that should be the only back link ... if there are more i am really not aware of them or they matter as google's link:dougswebdesign.com still give me number 0 .. the Link you gave me Shows my site PR as 0 Strange ??? I would really doubt the accuracy of that site. dougswebdesign.com Total: 1 Google: 0 Yahoo: 1 And i said as on 31/May because i am planning to place links of several websites we have designed ( Most of them are High PR sites) so very soon we should have bunch of good back links . Peace Orange
June 2, 200818 yr Well I saw the backlinks from yahoo..they come from the sites you have designed (your link in the footer)
June 2, 200818 yr Hmm interesting link but I'm not in total agreement. I suppose it's good as a rough guide or for setting targets but Page Rank comes and goes very easily these days. I don't think there is really ever a point in calculating pagerank formulas because Google are always changing them anyway.
June 2, 200818 yr Anyone know why the PR6 domain thats for sale on ebay has no backlinks but still a PR6? I wish I understood pagerank more.
June 2, 200818 yr Anyone know why the PR6 domain thats for sale on ebay has no backlinks but still a PR6?I wish I understood pagerank more. I'm not sure I get all this ( ) but look put this into a Google search "link:www.electsuzy.org" - there are loads of links. Is that right? Flip knows!
June 2, 200818 yr link:www.site.com never works for me on google. I used smartpagerank and it said no backlinks at all but the PR is 6. and the site above, he says he has no backlinks according to google but on smartpagerank he has 90+ meh I think I have confused myself more.
June 6, 200818 yr Google obfuscates inbound links for the sake of protecting its algorithm from abuse, yahoo is the most accurate in terms of inbound link analysis, and a number of other little tools. Back to the original point - I am yet to be shown a site with PR with no backlinks!
