Metal Potato Website Review... Please

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

We've been working on our new company website for a few weeks now, and have recently relaunched. We went from a traditional multi-page corporate website, and decided to go in the direction of a one-page website for a couple of reasons.

  1. We stopped offering a pick-and-mix bag of different services and just concentrated on one: web design
  2. We wanted to get rid of all the clutter, be incredibly specific, and right to the point
  3. We wanted to invoke some personality into the website and it's copy. You need to, with a name like Metal Potato

So with the site launched, I would love to have some feedback from you guys - users, web designers, copywriters, experts in your field. Please be brutally honest with me. If the site can be improved in any way, I am very open to the idea of making changes.

Thanks very much

Conor

Hey, your website looks amazing, so I decided to try and break it a little haha.

in your Let's Talk! section you have allowed the ability to resize the textarea, however you've placed it inside a static div which can't expand, so you can drag the texbox down then not be able to properly use it.

no problem at all, also I'm not sure if it's intentional or not, but you're presenting hello@metalpotato.com as your main email while the mailto goes to contact@hotpotato.com. This happens both times that it is displayed.

For the amount of work it would take it would be the better option, nobody likes being mislead even with such a tiny detail. But it is a very professional website, and I like how you've kept it on one page, I may try something along the same lines in a future design.

Nice site - I really like it. :)

It's clean, functional and I like the JQuery used.

Only thing i would change is the spacing on the 'a little about us' section. I think it would make the text look a little less cramped if you added more padding. Maybe use the green on the 'what we do' and 'why choose us' headings to break up the text visually.

I think the advantage to having your site all on one page with the scrolling anchors is that you can spread the content out.

Anyway, thats my thoughts. A great site overall. :)

Hi Daniel,

Thank's a lot for taking the time to review my site, and indeed, for the kind comments. I've added a bit of extra padding in above the 'Why Choose Us' and the 'What We Do' headings, and will try changing their colour when I get into the office tomorrow.

We all lead busy lives, so I appreciate the input.
