Adwords

Featured Replies

So I finally choked and decided to go for some PPC advertising. I chose Adwords by Google. While traveling the net I found that there might be promo codes/coupon codes out there for free Adwords$$. Does anyone know where to find accurate fully working promo/coupon codes for Adwords. I got $50USD free from my hosting company which was nice but I want more! I'm greedy lol. Also have any of you used Adwords? What do you thing of it? Is it worth it for Web designers or is our market way too saturated for it to work any better than organic.

Cheers!

I've never seen "free" Adwords coupons other than part of hosting package and the like.

I don't use them myself but have helped some of my customers set up accounts and get the ball rolling.

One thing is for sure, it can drain money from you very quickly so setting a maximum budget and not chasing after high bids or highly competitive keywords will help. The web design area is very saturated though if you're bidding for selected local keywords it's worth a go.

I agree with bluedreamer.

I have used adwords once and it can be good and effective if targeting just your local area-other than that I don't see it really worth it. It is also a huge drain on money as most of the time the click-throughs don't generate actual business.

In my opinion most people- except the computer illiterate- actually click/notice the ads on google searches when placed on the right hand side..

One of my clients turns over £300,000 a month through one ecommerce website, 80% of the conversions come from adwords, so yes.. it works.

see the ads a the bottom of this thread? That's adwords, those companies are paying google to put their adds up, ben is using adsense, where google pays him to allow ads onto this site.

You only pay if people click through so no need to worry about people who ignore the ads - in fact if you write your ad clearly you might get a bit of name-recognition in a niche market.

It can be good value if you only bid a small amout for each click and pick some less obvious keywords - your ad won't appear for very obvious keywords unless you make high bids for them. The trouble is that you will only get a handful of impressions a day (an impression is when your ad is displayed) and one click-through every couple of days.

When I worked for my old employers, I pretty much recommended AdWords to everyone, promoting it as the only effective PPC system as over the years we discovered how well the system works.

I personally spend £50/month on the program. You get a lot of statistics back and you are essentially, in control of your money. There was a scare a few years ago when competitors started clicking on eachothers links hundreds of times but Google have since resolved this issue.

Tip for everybody: Put contact details in the ad. This has saved me £££!
