New Facebook Design

Featured Replies

Facebook are secretly working on a redesign and restructure of the entire profile system. As far as I know you can play with the new design at this development URL: new.facebook.com

Personally I think it's excellent! They've removed those damn applications from the font-page of someone's profile and hidden them away in a separate page. Applications have been my biggest beef with Facebook lately and I'm so happy they've realised how damn annoying it is to trawl through 50 thousand lines of SuperWall and other crap just to get to someone's real Wall.

I'm loving the header as well, it's no bigger than it has to be: functional design at it's best.

All in all I'm really happy with the way FB are going, it's definitely going in better places than MySpace! :)

That URL takes me to FB homepage and it is still the same.

I know that in the new design that the mini-feed cannot be hidden/collapsed anymore and that annoys me.

Ah damn, it seems you need to have the developer application to see the new FB – makes sense so you can get your apps ready for the proper release.

I think there are some screenshots somewhere

Nothing really, I registered for it all a while back so I could have a play around. It's really quite powerful and fun if you don't produce utter crap like most of the apps.

Developers @ Facebook – It's quite useful to sign up on, even if you don't plan on making anything spectacular.

I like it - much cleaner, and it might make my current project much easier - the old width limits might very well be history!

I couldn't view the previews when I followed the facebook link.

But not being able to collapse the mini feed link annoys me. I know saying "I don't want people to see what I'm doing" is a silly thing to say when they could if they really wanted to check open it. But now the first thing people will see on my profile is every little minute thing I've done on Facebook in the last week. I can't see how it benefits the design?

I do really hate the amounts of applications people can have. Sometimes it's ridiculous!

Thanks for this Rob, had a quick browse yesterday (after getting the dev app.) and it looks pretty interesting - their design/layout is very functional, always has been. Will keep an eye on this.

It will be interesting to see if other social networks steal some of the new features.

Ive noticed myspace is now pretty much a bad version of facebook.
