March 6, 201313 yr I am developing a website which has different layouts/designs for some pages(8 different layouts). Its approx 100 page information website and I was thinking about using a CMS. I googled and found wordpress joomla concrete modx simplecms to be top contenders. Not sure which I should go for. Could you guys suggest me any CMS which I could use or which one would be perfect for such project ?
March 6, 201313 yr WordPress is a good option due to the flexibility and, depending on your skills, has a wealth of plugins available to download. I like Concrete, as I have mentioned on here before, as it's very easy for clients to use. I haven't used Joomla or any of the others. Drupal is another CMS you might want to look at, but I would probably stick with WordPress
March 6, 201313 yr I have always used wordpress for anything like this. Bit of a learning curve around custom themes and layouts but a sweet tutorial can be found here http://themeshaper.com/2012/10/22/the-themeshaper-wordpress-theme-tutorial-2nd-edition/ And as 4li4s says, incredible amounts of plugins are available! March 6, 201313 yr My advice is to go with Joomla, its always been my preference for developeing CMS wesites for clients, the admin portal is very user freindly and becuase its open source the support forums are second to none.
March 8, 201313 yr As everyone else stated above, it's hard to ever really go wrong with WordPress. Though, for that size of website and with that many customization's needed, I would recommend Drupal. From my experience, I've found Drupal to be one of the best as far as handling large websites and systems go. There are a couple of case studies on Drupal's website that I think you may find helpful. Specifically the one on the OSU Student Union that decided to go with Drupal and why they chose it above other CMS's. Again, I think you will find it helpful, as it sounds somewhat similar to your situation. Anyways, hope that helps some!
