September 21, 201213 yr Ok I am no way near a designer, i am if you must describe it a developer. I don't have the creativity to pull off some of the amazing work I have seen posted on these pages. But I want to create a logo for a site, instead of using some fancy shmancy font as applying some css to make it look good. Where can I start? I have image editing software (The Gimp) and know how to use it. But alas my creative juices stopped flowing the same time acne stopped.
September 22, 201213 yr Start with this, when you're done, take a look at this. If you still aren't happy, any of these should do the trick. I'm not proud of any of the logo's I've created, but I have done a few. I can tell you that the best place to start, is with a pencil and paper, Chris Spooner has a pretty good logo process tutorial. September 22, 201213 yr If you're a designing a logo, ditch the GIMP as it's a raster graphics editor. Instead you should use a vector program like illustrator or the open source Inkscape. Also, David Airey's book "Logo Design Love" is fantastic if you're able to get it. Edited September 22, 201213 yr by Pete Prosper

December 22, 201213 yr Honestly i never use GIMP program, i just use adobe illustrator as usual. I think GIMP just like photoshop
December 22, 201213 yr Plus all of the above mentioned, I'd suggest reading "Designing Brand Identity", since creating a logo is just a small part of creating a brand for a company or a website.
December 22, 201213 yr Hi Kalo, i agree the logo design is just a small part of creating brand but logo is always the first step and if logo is not created successfully, we can not move forward to next steps. Our company has failed many agreements of brand design due to not creating logo successfully.
