Updateted design at Juvenorge.com (v2)

Featured Replies

I've recently been working on an update of my site, JuveNorge.com, and I would've liked some comments on how to improve it. The colors are pretty limited to mainly black and white, with eighter red or a yellow colour, because these are the colours used by the club. Take that into consideration before commenting on "dull colours" and such.

Thanks all!

Images:

- Frontpage

- Single article

- Centered version (Like it will look coded, sort of.)

- Version with menu at the left side. (Looks crap).

Just want to tell you that the header is the part of the site with less work. We are working on a logo, but it's not done yet.

Thanks for all comments.

Regards, Sono Juventino

Is it the one that is up at the moment that is the new one, or is it the one in the images?

I hope it is the one that is up at the moment, as that is so much nicer than the images. It has a lot of personality and I love how simple it is, yet it is bold at the same time, there is a great balance to it :)

Thanks, Dizi.

This is the new version: The new version

Old/existing version: Existing version

I agree with you, Dizi. The existing version is nicely balanced and looks great. The problem is that we need to display more information than the functional site does at the moment, so this is not a redesign for the design's matter. It's a shame really, because I love the existing version.

I will come back to you with a new version with the current site's header and such. Think that will help a lot. :)

Personally I think you need to play around a little bit with the main menu. But other than that I think you have the balance right again, and the spacing of the three column makes it feel spacious even though you have a lot of information. You were right I did just need to see the header in place  but I do really feel your navigation needs a little tweaking as it doesn't really stand out much.

*ohh and I didn't realise that you posted in the wrong place before, so I have moved this into the review section...which will hopefully get you some more feedback :) *

How stupid of me. I don't know why I posted it in the wrong place. Thanks for moving it.

I will try to do something about the navigation, but I just don't know why yet.

Hoping for others to review too. :)

Really like it, liked all the images to be honest, but the 4th one you just posted is great. Perhaps the nav does need to stick out a bit more, but design wise its spot on, with a lot of information to show, its always hard to produce a clean design. I think you have achieved it.

Thank you very much, angstmann! It's allways great when someone likes your work. ^_^

I will take a look at the navigation and then come back to you. I would also like others to comment aswell. :)

Excellent stuff, i love the site - the best Juventus one i have seen in looong time !

I'm looking forward to seeing it when it goes live.

I have to say, the logo from Version 4 is good, but the version 3 one is even better. I love the red and white against the black background

Excellent. I too as reading through the thread thought the new design is better but needs the old header/banner.

Brilliant stuff.

Thanks everyone. I think the black background and the old header really kicked this design up notch.

Changes:

Juvenorge.com v1 (current version)

Juvenorge.com v3

Juvenorge.com v4

I'm not looking forward to code this version into Joomla, acctually. I have some bad experiences with joomla, and even though they have improved the code over the years, I'm very sceptical. The current version is valid Xhtml 1.0 Strict, even with other writers on it. (Exept some pages I haven't bothered to fix yet)

Do anyone of you have any tips on creating a joomla template, or is this pretty straight-forward?

And Maresca: Which english speaking Juve forums are you on?

Is there any specific reason that you're using Joomla if you're not happy with it?

Yes. I'm using Textpattern (hereby TXP) and I'm really loving it. The problem is that Joomla can offer me a great plugin called Joomleague, that is developed specific for football sites. :)
