Google Local Listing Ranking

Featured Replies

My business URL is ranking on 4-5 position for local listing. I want to be on 1st or 2nd position. My Profile is 100% filled, also added videos, photos and i also added my business on local directories like yellow pages, super pages. Now if i promote my Google Map URL(some what link building) can it be helpful to rank higher on local listing?

Thats an innovative way to build links and yes i'm sure that this would be of some help to you. I think you should promote your site on youtube as well in case you have some extra videos which you could share there.

As with everything SEO related, it's all about content and keywords.

You need to make sure your listing and significant content is attacking the correct keywords and contains easily discoverable, relevant content.

Also patience ;)

AS Mike said, plus reviews are a big player.

Get your customers to fill out reviews on some of the top review websites.

Look at the website you have associated with the Google places page. Maybe that has poor SEO? The information doesn't link up up then that will affect your ranking.

Increase authority of your website and you'll see an increase in rankings.

Also, don't link build to your places. Places Page have no authority status nor any status as a document and they are not indexed so using SEO such as link building will have no direct affect on it's ability to rank.

From a marketing point of view, sure pass your Google Places link around and get people to visit it, review your business etc but linking to it purely to get it ranking highly won't work.
