With regards to editable content, how far do you go? Do you make every single bit of text editable, just the main content areas? Been having a few emails lately asking how to edit certain parts of the site and just wondered what everyone else did.

I don't really know, but I'm interested on other's feedback on this too. I think though, if you make everything as editable as possible, then you are providing extra features to the customer - extra cost?

That's the biggest problem, sometimes you spend more time instructing clients how to use the CMS and with 'support' than it takes to make the actual site.

 

For smaller types that don't need entire control of every aspect it might be worth exploring something like CushyCMS (not tried it myself yet)
