May 4, 200818 yr Since having my new site design I've been using Joolma with the Virtuemart component as my ecommerce shop. It has come to my attention via a friend that is doing some SEO work on the site that there is errors in the coding which has been clarified at Validator.w3 and I have found out the majority of the errors are in the Virtuemart component. You can see for yourself here: - Baize LTD Baize LTD's current installation is the latest version of Virtuemart and to be completely honest I am losing patience with it and the package as a whole as there are other extras I can't get to work on the site. Can anyone give me advice on what to do as I don't really want to uninstall Virtuemart again or install another similar component, as I've just purchased both PayPalPro UK and Google Checkout components for the site. Does anyone else on here use Virtuemart for there site and having issues with it?
May 4, 200818 yr There aren't that many errors, can you not edit the template or is the code in a script? Unfortunately you do get what you pay for
May 4, 200818 yr Author You can edit the template as fair as I know, but unfortunately I don't know how to change it as Virtuemart is all new to me. What do you mean by -: I get what you pay for?
May 4, 200818 yr I too had a site with Joomla + Virtuemart, and I would say that code validation is perhaps the least of your worries. I found it a very frustrating combination, although parts of it did work very well. I think bluedreamer means that if you pay next to nothing for something, you can't expect it to be brilliant. Virtuemart is free, and it's good at some things, but it's hard to customise, and a pain in the ar$e to administrate IMHO. I depends what your requirements are for the rest of your site as to what the best solution for you will be, but I would definitely consider looking around at some alternatives. If you do stay with VM it looks like the errors are coming from the product scroller, so have a look at the file which controls it and see if you can manipulate the code (not sure which file does this - if you don't know, the VM forums is your friend).
May 4, 200818 yr Author Would removing the product scroller help as I've been trying to get MOSProductSnap to working instead of the scroller. What alternative would you suggest instead of the Joolma and Virtuemart combination or are you suggestion using another Joolma friend shopping cart? I don't really want to go back to OsCommerce been there done that.

By the sound of it some of the template HTML code is probably embedded in the php scripts which is generally not good practice. The only solution is to dive into the php scripts and correct it - however you may need a smattering of PHP knowledge to make sure you don't mess things up. You get what you pay for. Notbanksy is right saying that for nothing you can't always expect miracles! Imagine if someone gave you an old car for free, you'd expect a few rattles.
