February 28, 201214 yr Hello everyone! I'm graphic designer and beginner at web design and I wanna know what I need to learn (programming language, software or any other recommendation) to create a site like this: http://us.blizzard.com/ With the game slide and etc. The need appeared since I have started a project with my friends. Thanks for any further help.
February 28, 201214 yr html,css,javascript/jquery,php That would be fine for a developer. For a Graphic Designer transitioning into Web design you need to make sure you have an excellent grasp on design principles (which shouldn't be that hard for a Graphic designer). Then, you need to acquaint yourself with the web as a medium. You should look into User Experience, Information Architecture for the web, Usability, Accessibility. Most of this is conceptual stuff that you should understand before bothering to design anything for the web, otherwise your stuff will be awful.
February 28, 201214 yr If you're starting from scratch, you are looking at several months of learning all the required skills just to be able to produce something half decent. So you need to think about when you want to achieve this, if you want to be able to make this by the end of next week, it's not going to happen. Put it this way, there are people on this forum who have been working hard with websites for months, years, who cannot produce a level of work equivalent to the Blizzard site. That more than likely includes me, at that. The flash animation for example, is beyond me, as would any of the backend side of things. Edited February 28, 201214 yr by brightonmike
February 28, 201214 yr Yea it would take u a good 6 to 12 months to learn all the required skills if your starting from scratch even then you may not be able to produce something near as good, thats the thing about beginners they think to high and think they can produce something great within a week, its just not gonna happen Edited February 28, 201214 yr by webdesigner93
February 29, 201214 yr Hello everyone! I'm graphic designer and beginner at web design and I wanna know what I need to learn (programming language, software or any other recommendation) to create a site like this: http://us.blizzard.com/ With the game slide and etc. The need appeared since I have started a project with my friends. Thanks for any further help. One does not simply create a blizzard-like website in a month. but since your question was what you would need to create a site like that, HTML, CSS3, jquery, javascript, flash(AS3.0) for front end.
