February 18, 201214 yr ello gentlemen, i was interested in talking to a graphic/web designer and getting some advice and hopefully some small scale work done {paid} and have been to the hiring board - i must say that it seems a bit deserted. the IRC channel on freenode is also empty. so my question is: are you guys still active?
February 18, 201214 yr Ello! Ah, the good old days of the IRC chatroom. I don't think it's been used for the last 3 years, in fact, you probably can't get in now for all the dust and cobwebs. And the looking to hire board was once a hive of activity and exploitation, but now lies near-dormant because the forum admin has decided that charging a small fee to post is the best way to moderate that board. But yes, we're still here, and yes, the forum is very active. Although it's a bit quiet at weekends! Herein ends a brief history of WDF.
February 18, 201214 yr Haha in a nutshell notbanksy is spot on. The forum itself is very much active. I'm not sure if there is any traffic running through the jobs board. I'm sure there is some flow there via PM's etc. I, like many in here, don't think the charging for the jobs board was a good idea and maybe in the future it will be revoked. Fingers crossed I'm all for getting the irc channel on the go again.
February 19, 201214 yr Author well hell then, i'll be first join the irc channel as to the demanding payment to post- i find evidence of amp ludicrousness in that - he should stop that immediately.
February 20, 201214 yr I think the LTH board is bunk - when it's paid it's the wrong model for finding someone and when it's not it's a spamfest of low-value projects and leeches who only join for the jobs and never post. A much better approach is having a look around for folks who know what they're talking about (I could hit 2 with a brick from where I'm standing in this thread), checking them out and getting in touch off-site. February 20, 201214 yr If you can do everything you need to do in GIMP, there's really no need for Photoshop.
February 22, 201214 yr Author once i get my divs right im going to take up gimp! i'm going to start practicing soon. doing divs atm! btw - a tip for irc - if you log in - keep your client in!
