April 23, 200818 yr I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, want one of these. But for the price of a spanky new PC, it's going to have to wait. (Unless everyone on WDF would like to chip in & save for my birthday? ) From the maker of Tetris: The Optimus Maximus Keyboard The beauty, the coolness, the uber geektitude is just too much for a lowly geekess like me to handle! This keyboard is made up of buttons with tiny LCD screens in them, so you can program the keyboard to look anyway you like, you get 10 extra buttons to make your own shortcut keys, etc, etc, etc. Not just that but you can even program it to be a minesweeper game. How uber-awesome is that? Switch to dvorak and become a 1337 typist! Display a photo of your dearly beloved to bash at whilst you type! The possibilities are endless. Ok, ok, I'm a little over excited but what the hell! The cats out of the bag, Eris is a complete and utter geek and now everyone knows it! (like you didn't already?) I have heard there is going to be an option which is a regular keyboard that comes with just 10 of the LCD keys for you to place where you desire, and then you can buy additional packs of 10 LCD keys as and when you can afford it. Sounds more like the student way of doing it! Please tell me someone else is as excited by this as me?
April 23, 200818 yr wow, I want I want Although if I were going to get one it would have to be all in one go as having 10 keys like that just wouldn't be enough
April 23, 200818 yr Author Here is a link to the people that make it, a bit cheaper and you can choose how many buttons you want! http://store.artlebedev.com/computer_add-ons/optimus/ I am looking to see if you can purchase extra buttons after lol.
April 23, 200818 yr If I was that despirate for one I think the most useful buttons to have would be the shortcut ones on the side
April 23, 200818 yr Definitely! But I think I will wait until I can afford the full one! me too if you're going to get one might as well get a whole one
April 23, 200818 yr That's really cool but all I can think about is how sad I'd be when I inevitably spilled my drink on it.
May 2, 200818 yr yeah... but apparently they're no good to type on! lol whats the point?! Don't be so practical! The point is that that is the sexiest, snazziest piece of kit that I have seen for a LONG time! Anyone wanna buy a kidney?
May 5, 200818 yr It looks like a great piece of kit... But when you see the price tag attached There is absolutely no way on this planet that I would pay over a grand for it...
May 6, 200818 yr Holy hot momma! I spend all day on my keyboard and I hate the wretched thing - with this delicious creation I might actually enjoy typing again! I honestly never knew technology had moved-on so far - it's genius. Anyone need a few hundred pages of a photo gallery or other non-textual pages copy-edited?!!!!! But I'd advise you all to learn how to use your current keyboard properly before dreaming on splashing out!!!! A keyboard can be very dangerous in the wrong hands (or under the wrong fingers!) What other technological wonders are out there that I could only dream of?
May 6, 200818 yr Author You could also try the Optimus Tactus - infinitely configurable and very sexy. I agree about the transformers It does look cool, and I can imagine not having to press keys would reduce strain, but it would be so weird! I wonder how easy it'd be to get used to! What other technological wonders are out there that I could only dream of? I imagine before long it'll be keyboard that can look like anything, and take any input e.g. be a graphics tablet too, thats where tactus seems to be heading. Other than that I'm not sure! There's always the stargate
May 6, 200818 yr That is a Hawt keyboard. defenitly gonna get that once it gets cheap or i get rich. For now i have to do with my ordinairy Illuminated keyboard. ( looks pretty star trek in a dark room )
May 11, 200818 yr Has anyone seen this? Apologies to any females who may find it degrading - I do not in any way condone the portrayal of women as 'objects'. No way. An inanimate object isn't going to cook my dinner! (joking of course - please don't tell Mrs. Wizely!)
May 11, 200818 yr That keyboard looks amazing, but the plastic coating around them looks quite cheap? Some sort of glass encasing with a sort of smooth=cut finish would surely better fit such a ridiculous price tag? I'll stick to my dream of a Razer Tarantula
