April 18, 200818 yr Hi, I’m currently working on my own personal site to promote services that I can offer such as website and graphic designs. I’m confident enough when it comes to “css” and “html”. I am now also self teaching myself php. I have had a look at some of the member’s site already and I have to say they are all of a very high standard. I was wondering if you guys could have a quick look at my site and maybe beta test it so to speak any comments and suggestions that might help would be greatly appreciate the matter how big or small. oh I near forgot the site is @ www.webdesigni.co.uk let me know your thoughts thanks in advance.
April 18, 200818 yr Hi there. Welcome to the wdf Right.... Firstly, your CSS isn't valid Validation results, and neither is your xhtml. (Results). Am not a fan of the whole "web 2.0" look, and to be honest, the site seems a bit "templatey" for my taste. I'm not sure the colour of your headings works that well with the black and white layout. I definitely don't like the fact that page refreshes itself every so often, and this is a big no-no from an accessibility point of view as well. I think the default font size could do with being a little bit larger too, as it was quite hard for me to read when tired. Regards Scott
April 18, 200818 yr Yes why the page refresh? Check your text copy, sometimes you talk about "I/me" and then you switch to "us/our" Adverts on a site like yours seem a little tacky IMHO Why the flash gallery for your work? It's always good to put some explaination of what you did on a customers site and add a link so potential clients can take a look at your live work.
April 18, 200818 yr Author Thanks for all your input, yes the refresh was just a test i need to take that out, I just use the ad system to get my site stats at the min, any suggestions of scripts etc to show stats?

For me statcounter.com. By far the best, but the free version has a limited log size. The "Recent Visitor Activity" tab is great. I would use google analytics since it's free, but I find the layout and information on display isn't as good as statcounters.
April 20, 200818 yr I recommend changing the <title> tag on each page so users know where on they are on your site. Also, you may want to highlight the active page on your navigation so that is is apparent of the part of the website they are in. I really like the design, it is nice and clean and very uncluttered making it easy on the eye as well as making it look professional. Wish you the best of luck with your site Ravi
April 20, 200818 yr On the bottom of the page, there are tags colored white so that they're hidden - what's the point? It looks like the page scrolls on forever for no reason. Otherwise, I think it's fine.
