Weird JS problem with Google Maps

Featured Replies

not a Firebug user but can you have it open and ready then load/reload the page? It does the same thing in Chrome/IE8 when you press F12

Ok folks, I've got a bizarre problem with a Google map (click the map tab and see what I mean) and I've got no idea how to track it down, because opening Firebug fixes it.

Any thoughts?

Are you using Firebug on a single screen with it docked to the bottom of the main window? If so try it in a new window instead. I think it's not actually Firebug causing the fix but actually the screen being resized when Firebug opens.

As to what the problem is, I'm not sure. The map is rendering just about -300px left and -150px above the main content div.

Ok, I've sacrificed the fadein effect and swapped:

position: absolute;
visibility: hidden;

for:

position: relative;
visibility: visible;

to do the tabs. The loss of fadein isn't ideal but it's not a deal breaker.

Dr. Google tells me Maps don't like display: none.

Forget that I was playing around while you where changing things :0

Yes display:none is the problem I did a bit of a clumsy work around by using z-index to hide the map on load

I'm not the best with jquery though so it might be something to try
