I Launched My New Web And Graphic Design Site Today

Featured Replies

Hi guys and gals

After a couple of months of designing, developing and writing content, I've finally launched my new site and announced it to the world. To launch it I wrote an article listing 25 inspirational design and creativity blogs which you should check out.

Please visit and have a look around - if you like what you see you can subscribe to my RSS feed. Would be great if you could help me spread the word by submitting to your social bookmarking site of choice.

Let me know here what you think - I appreciate all feedback :)

PS - I know there are a few minor issues in IE6 mainly related to PNGs. Damn cruddy browser.

PPS - Apologies for the shameless self promotion - I don't do this often :)

Are you asking us to review aaronrussel.co.uk or milienzo.com?

AaronRussell.co.uk I believe.

It is a nice site, but feels a bit awkward to read because all of the content is right over to the left. I find my eyes drawn more to the middle column.

Anyway, as a point for your articles more than the site itself, I found your list a bit hard to interpret, it could do with a logical divider between each item in the list (some form of hr) and also a numbering from 1 to 25 so I can see how far down the list I am etc..

Otherwise its really nice, and a good article.

I agree with ErisDS on this one, initially it looks like the page is littered with ads - a visual method of indicating that the image is a link would be nice.

Colour is lovely although the bg_image bands quite a lot to the right of the columns.

Nice "mood" to the site though.

Lovely design to the website, but I agree with the others that you need to rejig the columns a bit, the content doesn't have enough prominence on the blog. It's all squeezed over to the left, and the eye is naturally drawn to the centre of your layout at the moment as the fonts and colours are fairly similar.

My only beef with this layout is that I have a horizontal scrollbar (Firefox/1.5.0.12eol on Linux). Other than that, I really like it.

Hello husband.

What would you like for dinner? Thought I'd better ask you using this method as I will then get an answer a lot more quickly!

:D

Thanks everyone for the comments. It's interesting that a few of you mention how the main column is aligned to the left makes it arkward to read as your eyes are naturally drawn to the centre column. Certainly I can see this when you scroll down past the fold it can look a little unbalanced as everything is tightly over to the left. I take this on board but it is a concious decision to make the main column the left column as I've also seen articles supporting the thoery that web users scan a website left to right and so there is evidence that the left column should be the primary column. I don't know - I guess it's six and two threes, but it's interesting that several of you picked up on this.

Point taken on how I've drawn up the list in the 25 blogs articles. I agree it's not as clear as it could be so should I do any more list type posts I'll try to address it.

Notbanksy - I can't replicate the horizontal scrollbar - any chance you can do a screen grab so I can identify the offending DIV?? - ps, you have a well trained wife ;)
