Hi,

 

I want to include a contact form on a site I have set up. I don't know how to write script for it myself and know there are lots to download from internet.

 

There seem to be lots to choose from and I have tried a couple so far which look fine when I include them on the website but just don't work. I suspect there is something I am doing/not doing to cause the problem. I have taken the contact form off the site until I can be sure it works.

 

Can anybody recommend a foolproof one that a beginner/idiot like me can manage ?

 

I have checked with my web host and my package allows this feature.

Chris Coyier has a nice and simple one over at CSS-Tricks.com. So long as you have PHP with PHPMail on it should work. It's nothing fancy, it redirects to a simple 'Thank You' page if successful and it doesn't even check for content (It will send blank emails if you don't enter anything and hit the button)

It depends a bit on the amount of control you want over the forms.

 

I found jotform quite handy.

 

easy form creator

 

Free forms that you can make as you need them and copy a single line of code to your pages.

 

Again, I found it handy and very good looking forms, only there are a few limits to the amount of forms that can be send with the free version.

 

I have now been able to create my own forms, only need to make them safe with validations, until I have learned that I will use jotform.

Hi, would the email be re-directed to my own personal email or is there somewhere else on the forum to pick up emails as I don't seem to have one from you ???

 

In the meantime, I have tried out the JotForm suggested by seedism (next comment) and will go ahead with this and then learn how to do it myself.

Thanks for this suggestion. It looks fairly straightforward so will give it a go - but plan to learn how to write my own.

 

5 minutes later - have now tried this - it is completely idiotproof and ideal for me. Thank you very much. But as you say I have little control over forms so will make the effort to learn how to make my own.

Must say I am really impressed with response from forum members to my problems. As someone who at the moment is still learning from trial and error it's great to have backup from forum.
