Hi ill my names dom,

i am new to webdesign an have always avoided it even at school when i had to make websits on DreamWeaver

since then i have gotten much better but still feel i am getting to grips with web design.

i have some experience in CSS i have been taking notes on chapters on the W3Schools website, am waiting for a book to come on Jqueary, umm but thats it.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask some of my first questions of what will become many over time XD

sooo

basically i am building a website for college (we move on to the next part in 9 weeks when i get back to college) i have built my index page (basic)

I do not like the site that much and think it needs some polishing

The website will eventually include Jqueary/JavaScript and PhP & MySQL

at the moment the site is built on HTML and CSS 2.1 (some CSS3 Features like some shadows and rounded corners)

I was wondering if anyone can recoment any books on PhP & MySQL, also i have recenetly purchased Jqueary in action second edition off amazon an was wondering if anyone had read it. also i know this isnt the place to ask this kind of question but i will be doing software engineering at university and want to start programing in Java i was wondering if anyone can recomend me some books for that, my sisters dad is giving me a book called software engineering by Ian Somerville 4 or 5th edition, any recomendation would be nice

thankyou everyone and a big hello from me, sorry for the long question in my introduction :)
