June 21, 201115 yr Hello everybody, nice to meet you all! I've always had an interest in web development (I'd prefer to call it development, rather than design, because I see myself as more of a coder than a designer) but have never had any real opportunity to try and put my interest in to practice. At present, I am a university student studying Computer Forensics. As part of my sandwich degree, I have undertaken a year long placement and I've got a few months of that remaining. In line with my degree, I was going to assist the organisation I work for in implementing a forensics tool, but for one reason or another, this has not been possible. As a result, we needed to find another project for me to do and, having indicated on my CV that I had an interest in web development, when an opportunity arose to develop a solution for a web-based access request system, it seemed to tick all the boxes. For me, this has re-ignited my interest in development and given me an opportunity to show what I can do. Going to work has been a joy whilst on this project and, as such, it's something I want to press on with and improve, so I could maybe consider a job in the field. My main worry is that I'm nowhere near a level that I could begin applying for jobs after my degree, so hopefully I can pick up some helpful tips/advice here that can assist me in developing my skills. Speak to you all soon!
