Google is still favouring keyword-matching domains, so it is definitely a great start using that domain.

Would it put people of with the 'my' bit of the domain?

In a word? No. The "my" bit of your domain will have no negative effect on the weight it carries. Because your keyword is located in the strongest part of the url (Between "www" and "co.uk") and isn't heavily diluted then you've given your website a huge boost before you even start any SEO campaign. With regards to users being put off? Make sure your website is designed to perfection, doesn't look spammy and provides the information they are looking for. Make it look professional, and people won't be put off by the domain.

Rallport, you'd be surprised at the weight google gives keyword-exact domains. Do a quick search for "villas 4 rent" and check the third entry. It's a website I created, and only has 15 backlinks. The website in the position below, in #4, has in excess of 4,000 links. Now, I know backlinks arent the be-all and end-all, but surely a website that has 4,000 backlinks is going to our rank a website with only 15. It's no coincident that it is ranking highly for a keyword that is exactly like the domain

Oh, I would never doubt that mate, I just think that a keyword-rich domain gives a terrific boost to rankings. But then this borders on the spammy side of things.

 

You're telling me, but it's a domain that my client already had and they wanted to use that as it was already on marketing material. Surprisingly, they didn't an SEO campaign as it was simply a website to point people to

So you would advise me to purchase this domain? Not a bad price to buy aswell

Haha, sorry Slacky, I got a little side-tracked there. Looking at rallport's post, it appears that he agrees (The only thing he does agree on ) that it is great if you can buy this domain.

 

It's a minor ranking factor, it's a bonus iof you can get the odd keyword in though, not the end of the world if your domain has no keywords in it though.

My opinion on the domain name is that it reminds me of a cheap spam site. Like 'Myrewards' etc.

Yes, it would work if you have your niche keyword inside domain but proper research and SEO strategy can help you to run good online business.

Its a good domain to choose from, its allready an seo boost because of the keywords and the 'my' dont really matter. buy it!

been onto 123reg to buy it and it only lets me pay for 2 years but alot of other can choose more why is this? plus you can get web hosting from them for £2.50 a month is this worth getting and any other options they other worth purchasing?

£2.50 is pretty damn cheap for hosting, chuck up a list of the specs you get with this and we'll have a look through it. It might be a case of it being cheap for a reason.

 

Although, it'll be worth while getting and developing your website, then upgrading as and when you need to.

 

With the domain, I've seen options for one or two years. Go for two, and then you have a chance to renew it at the end. It's down to you at that point if you want to keep it. Don't worry about that.

brought the domain, just want to know is there any decent free hosting sites just to get my site up and running then in future once the sites spot on ill purchase paid hosting

I'd avoid free hosts usually because of the horrible adverts they put on your websites... I would suggest developing the website locally using WAMP or MAMP and then purchasing a very cheap hosting package, you can get them very cheap and sometimes they are unlimited everything! It's awesome. I use Hostgator who are great!

ive gone with ###### to get up and running but how do i get my dreamweaver site onto my domain name now?

ive managed to sort out how to do it in dreamweaver, but its not doing it right when i go onto my url it just shows a lift of files and folders not my actually web site. Its doing my head in

Depending on what kind of uploader are you using? get all your files & folders and download FileZilla or something, just configure with your host and give it a go.

I was about to say that sometimes Google differs myfinesite from my-fine-site, but i guess it's too late now

 

Your web hosting has FTP uploader, right?
